47-spear Prone Kavadi

By Shannon • Aug 16th, 2006 • Category: ModBlog

Thank you so much to Helasdottir for sharing this beautiful horizontal kavadi variation. The forty-seven steel spears have autoclavable screw on tips, and you can click here to see the rigging. She described the experience as both serene and intense — which I think is about ideal.

  1. Ouchie mama!! Very nice photo of it though.

  2. So do they actually pierce the skin? If so, how deep? How much pressure did she feel?

Ooooh, I’m so interested now. I want to learn much more!

  3. that is just stunningly beautiful. what a lovely photo…

  4. I don’t get it. Are they just heavy or do they go into you? Is the idea not to move so they don’t actually spear you?

  5. owie… :S
it definitely takes a high pain thresh-hold to withstand that!
    beautiful picture, though…

  6. That is completely and utterly gorgeous, and I want to do it now, too.

  7. This is a beautiful kavadi. I have yet to have the chance to do one. I have been suspended 138 times but never this. Does anyone know where I can get a set-up? If so hit me up on my IAM SteveBennett

    Thanks,
    Steve Bennett

  8. Count me in among the confused, but impressed, crowd.

To be honest, suspensions kind of freak me out seeing as I hate needles, (I’m a tattoo fan rather than a piercing one), though this does sound very intruiging.

Tanks BME (and Shannon)! I’ve been enlightened once again!

  12. (Thanks, even. I forgot to check my spelling :P )

  13. god i love bme.

  14. Hey - Wow! What lovely comments and thought. Thank you very much!

  19. That’s so hot I think my monitor exploded.

Yes, I know the main intent was not to arouse other people. Still… wow. :)

And I’m sure it was a wonderful experience, and that’s even better.

  20. Why is it called a “Prone” Kavadi when she is lying supine?

  21. shannon, thanks for posting a girl with thighs and hips!

  22. This is beyond beautiful.

  23. that’s pity for this wonderful body! Better for kiss and cuddle and chew and lick!

  26. [...] Since I posted the 47-spear prone kavadi, I’d like to also share Dust’s first kavadi, a seated kavadi, by Chandler and Flo at Villa Vendex in Maastricht. [...]

  27. This is not KAVADI. I don’t know this is for show or for fun. KAVADI is only meant for hindus to celebrate on Lord Murugan’s birthday.
