Father-Son “Tandem” Suspension

Third Eye Perception Suspension (ThirdEyePerception.com) just hosted a touching tandem suspension for their good friend Joey, who has been with the team since their “very rocky start”, and who recently become father to a bouncing baby boy… “Bouncing”, literally, loving bobbing up and down in his jumper, so they wanted to set up a suspension for Joey and his son, combining their overlapping loves of suspension. Third Eye tells me,

“We rigged Joey into a modified face down suspension so that he could see his child and hold him while suspending, and everything went as amazing as could be. It was very emotional, and we all enjoyed seeing Joey lecture his little toddler as to not rushing into getting any tattoos or piercings until he was good and ready. Little Ward smiled the entire time and seemed to thoroughly enjoy himself, as you can see from the other photos, he was smiling the entire time and seemed to really enjoy getting some air while attached to his father.”

“The adorable climax was when after detaching Ward from Joey, he fell right asleep with the most adorable smile on his face.”

Joey (and Ward’s mother as well) both have “straight-world jobs” and are completely dedicated parents who “have given the entirety of themselves into making sure Ward is loved and cared for from the moment he wakes up”, but unsurprisingly they still got feedback on this suspension telling them that it was “child abuse” (among other criticisms). The unfortunate reality is that there have been multiple cases where suspension and body modification interests have played a role in causing people to lose their children, usually in the case of things like this being used as ammunition in bitter divorces by one parent against another. It’s sad for there to be any criticism of something like this suspension, beautiful from the conception, to the realization, to the epilogue.

There are more pictures after the break (and I should add that Joey’s scars on his shoulder blades were done by Pineapple of Shaman Modifications in Austin, Texas). If you have the bandwidth, enjoy the video in fullscreen, as it’s been posted at HD quality.

They call her mom

We’ve seen IAM:Theycallmeanna here on ModBlog before for her scars, tattoos, and also as a BMEGirl.  Today we’re seeing a different side to her in a tender moment with her daughter Lola.

In case you haven’t seen it before, BME has an entire gallery dedicated to photos like this.  Just modified people spending time with family and friends with no emphasis on any specific modification.  If you’ve got some time this afternoon, take a look around the BME Culture gallery, or even better, send in your own photos to [email protected]

Summer BMEFest 2011!

Got plans for July 2nd-4th?  Nope?  Well you do now!  It’s BMEFest and it’s back with a vengeance.  The boss lady is opening her doors and inviting everyone to come on down for the weekend.  Here are some of the highlights:

  • Lots of room for tents
  • Swimming pool
  • Bonfire (That I will NOT be jumping in this time)
  • Food will be provided, but only the basics like burgers, veggies, and chicken.  If you want something else, feel free to bring it.  Oh, and if you’re over 21, bring the booze (just don’t drive afterwards)
  • Suspensions/Pullings – The space is there, just need some practitioners to sign on and bring equipment.
  • And last but not least… BOUNCY CASTLES!!!  SLIP’N’SLIDES!!! AND MORE!!!

BMEtv will also be set up interviewing people, so if you’re interested, just let Rachel know in the event forum.

This is a chance to get to see some friends you may not have seen in a while, as well as a chance to make new ones.  If there’s one thing that’s consistent with every BME event, is that after a few minutes, everyone is like family.  Well, the kind of family that you party your face off for a weekend with.

What are you waiting for, sign up for the event right here.  (NOTE: Newer versions of browsers tend to have problems with the signup page.  People have found Safari and IE to work when their browser doesn’t.)

Oh, and those BME Logo tattoos?  They belong to IAM: Klages.

BMEFest is Back!!!

You read that right!  This summer marks the return of the infamous BMEFest, and you’re all invited!  The event page has all the little details, but here are some of the highlights:

BMEFest is going to be a big family reunion, a time to get caught up with some old friends, and a place to make new ones.  The party starts on Saturday July 2nd, and goes until Monday night.

And because this is a family reunion, here’s a tattoo celebrating family by Sagie from Walk the Line Tattoo Parlour in Sweden.

So what are you waiting for?  Head on over to the event page and RSVP today!

Happy Weekend

joao_caldara sent in these photos of his adorable son, ThÈo. They’re in Petropolis,  Brasil which google tells me today does exist, it’s not just some evil villians hide away in some obscure comic. This is what I plan to do all weekend since I’ll be hanging out with my own little princess all week.

I’ve got to go back to laying on the floor playing with animals that eat people who eat fairies and continue to be the faerie protector and get all the snuggles I can. Catch up with you on Monday. If Monday’s posts are a little delayed, sorry about that, I’m just preoccupied. I also tend to try and update on East Coast time but I’ll figure it out on Monday.

Run Into His Arms

Well hey, it’s new (and tattooed) daddy Zach with number-one son, Cash Randall, of whom he seems so proud, he’s just gonna put him up on the mantle for all to see. Seems like as good a place as any.

More shots of father and son, after the jump.

Sing Out

So, even though tattoos are super boring and awful and nobody should ever write about them, or even think about them, really, because they’re a waste of time, I don’t ever really get tired of stories like this. Take it away, Bill:

My name is Bill and I got my tattoo done at Excalibur Tattoo & Design in Shelton, CT, by a guy named Ducky. I have always loved old school tattooing and the water, so I figured this would be a nice start for further tattoos (I’m working on filling my back). My dad (Tom) and I went to get them together and it was also his first tattoo — his at the age of 53, mine at age 20. Talk about father son bonding …

Close-up shots of said tattoos after the jump.
