Better late than never news

Here I am again, bringing you body modification news from around the globe.  I want to thank Sean for his hard work, it’s been a long week for me.  Now, on with the news!

USA Today wants to see your pop culture tattoos!

The Lancaster Eagle Gazette has a profile piece up about tattoo artist Maxx Huddy, discussing his 31 years of experience.

From the Niles Daily Star comes a story about breaking down stereotypes, one tattoo at a time.

In Pittsburgh, a laser center helps young gang members by offering tattoo removal for free.

For your viewing pleasure, Fox 6 Now has a photo gallery up of girls with tattoos.

Apparently, more than 50% of people who have tattoos now regret them.  In other news, 97.3% of all statistics are made up.

Out of Colorado, the Today’s News Herald has a story about the Enigma visiting Lake Havasu City’s newest tattoo studio.

There is a very short story out of Stratford, about a man who was arrested after tattooing brass knuckles on the back of a 16 year old girl.

The Daily Toreador has a story about students (of the college sort) who have gotten tattooed.  The comments following the article are… typical.

Finally, in celebrity news, I bring you stories of regret as Amy Winehouse wants her “Blake” tattoo covered up, Helen Mirren is completely disgusted by drunken decision to get tattooed (because tattoos have become too mainstream!!!!) and Stephen Baldwin says he regrets his Miley Cyrus tattoo.  No really.

It’s been a slow week for interesting body modification related stories.  As always, you can send in any stories you think we might find interesting.  Enjoy your weekend, I hope yours is less snow-filled than mine!

  1. This “50% regret their tattoo”-shit tries to be a semi-welldone self-fulfilling prophecy from people that are against tattoos or people who are involved in laser removal ;-)

  2. “Apparently, more than 50% of people who have tattoos now regret them. In other news, 97.3% of all statistics are made up.”
    Reminds me of the Simpsons…

    >Mr. Simpson, how do you respond to the charges that petty vandalism such as graffiti is down eighty percent, while heavy sack-beatings are up a shocking nine hundred percent?
    >Homer Simpson: Aw, people can come up with statistics to prove anything, Kent. Forfty percent of all people know that.

  3. I found the Helen Mirren story most amusing. She regrets it, because tattoos being mainstream now is unacceptable for her? I guess she’s no different from other people who try to “set themselves apart from the crowd” like youngsters trying to be all cool, but still…Helen Mirren, a rebel?

  4. aivi – Actually, yeah, Helen Mirren is kinda badass. She’s lived this incredible, free-spirited life, and she’s smart and talented and political and formidable and gorgeous. When I grow up, I totally want to be Helen Mirren. But with more tattoos. :)

Also, whoever wrote that article doesn’t seem to be someone with journalism training; the tone is weirdly conversational.

  5. “Helen Mirren is completely disgusted by drunken decision to get tattooed (because tattoos have become too mainstream!!!!) ”

isn’t getting wasted mainstream, too? lame.
