This awesome full backpiece tree is a coverup of an old tribal tramp stamp (what an improvement!), done by Justin Bolonski (www) at Integrity Tattoo in Royersford, PA.

This pretty back piece — the shaded boxes being what really sets it apart from one of a zillion generic pieces — is being done by Chris Dingwell at Sanctuary Tattoo in Portland, Maine.

My Little Pony backpiece, updated
What a difference a background can make! I liked Thya‘s My Little Pony backpiece when I first posted it, but I like it even more now that she’s made the “good/evil” theme more obvious with the addition of a background, also done by Bammer in Vienna.

Icarus Backpiece
I really like Avolare‘s “Icarus falling from the sun” backpiece, part of a large flight-themed montage. It’s being done by Chris Dingwell at Sanctuary Tattoo in Portland, Maine.
Aztec Backpiece
I really like Doran‘s backpiece, done by Rob Coutts at Bobby Five here in Toronto. Hopefully I have not mislabeled it!
Update: Of course I did mislabel it; as a couple people have pointed out the design is Mochica, from Perú, and predates the Aztec and Mayan cultures.
Fantasy Dragon Backpiece Cutting
You may recall that quite some time ago, not long after we parted ways, I posted photos of a full back cutting that Charles Finnie and Leia Stafford (pictured below) from DragonFX Kingsway did. The customer stopped by the shop a few days ago, so Lane had a chance to snap some photos of it well on its way to being healed (above of course). I thought this piece was fairly unique because of the fact that it’s fantasy themed — it’s rare to see classic tattoo imagery in scarification, and I think this speaks of just how broad a market there is inside scarification these days.
Assuming it isn’t just a comment on Alberta! 😛
Comic Geisha Backpiece
My old friend Efrain shot this at the 2007 New York Tattoo Convention. Check out his sites at HellFirePress.com and GonzoScene.com.
