Getting away from the cold streets of Moscow is just what the Sinner Team needed. This waterfall in Thailand provides an awesome change of setting than their usual urban backdrops.

4 days to go before BMEFest 2011! I think everyone knows by now how much I’m looking forward to the bouncy castles, obstacle course and slip’n’slide (3 lanes!), yet there is so much more going on. The party begins on Saturday, but if you show up Friday night, that’s alright as well. There is a LOT of room for tents, while there are hotels a short distance away, sleeping in a tent will probably save you some money. Of course there will be a big bonfire, and no I won’t be jumping into this time. I singed enough of my beard off last time for me to even think about doing it again.
Now, one of the many awesome things happening over the weekend is we have Cere from ROP facilitating both suspensions and pulls. Along with Cere, some of the other practitioners include ChrisB, TrickyDick, and Brian, as well as many others who work alongside these guys. Now if you’re thinking about suspending, feel free to get in touch with Cere ahead of time. He will be bringing extra supplies to facilitate pulls and suspensions for those who don’t get in touch with him, but letting him know ahead of time lets him estimate a bit better. Now supplies do cost these guys, so they’ll be asking for a minimum donation of $150 for suspensions, and 60 for pulls. One of the main tenants of the suspension community is that they’re there to facilitate, not make money. So any donation given covers the cost of the supplies, and anything in excess goes towards purchasing new equipment.
With that all said, here’s a shot taken by Jen on New Year’s Day at the last BME BBQ. Suspending is IAM:Velo, who is the guy with the massive burning monk scar.

Alright, maybe not a barrel roll, but how about a backflip?
Emily‘s SusCon suspension was definitely one to remember. While there weren’t a lot of photos taken (there was a lot going on at the time) her backflip suspension was one of the more technically challenging suspensions of the weekend. This photo was taken right at the beginning of the suspension, with her hanging by her elbows and knees. Rick from AGRO is supervising, as the backflip was about to start.
From this position her elbow hooks were cut free, dropping her into a knee suspension. After hanging there for a few minutes, the rigging was quickly changed, and she was swung backwards so that the hooks in her back could be attached to the rigging plate. Once she was hanging face down, her knees were cut, dropping her into a 2 point suicide, where she hung for the rest of her time in the air.
Since I last posted about the Dallas SusCon a number of other photos have been added to the gallery, so go on over and check them out.
You may:
1. attempt to ford the river
2. caulk the wagon and float it across
3. take a ferry across
4. wait to see if conditions improve
5. throw some hooks and zipline across
What is your choice?
Leave it up to Arseniy to pick option 5.
Of course he had the help of the #Leeds Suspension team from St. Petersburg, Russia to help him out.
The sun is shining over the ocean, the waves crashing against the rocks, and yourmommyface is hanging out, taking it all in.
Devin Mense is credited for this suicide suspension.
Yesterday we saw a triple tandem suspension in which three people shared an incredible experience with the help of their suspension team. Today is all about the individual. While suspensions for the most part require the assistance of trained practitioners, in that moment when the person steps off the ground and into the air, everything else just falls away. Lassi and the Scar.fi team have managed to capture that feeling in a single photo. For this woman, she is taking a leap upwards, away from the ground and into herself, opening up a window that may never have been opened if she hadn’t taken that first step.
You can see more photos from the Scar.fi suspension team in their BME gallery.
As I mentioned earlier this week you’re going to be getting a look at some of the stuff Samppa Von Cyborg has been doing while on the road in the US. Today’s post is about a recent performance Samppa and Aneta did as part of their recent NYC tour stop. The centerpiece of the show was a blood painting that Samppa did of himself, Steve Haworth, and Lukas Zpira, using Aneta’s blood. The painting is now up for auction, with all proceeds going towards relief efforts in Japan.
Keep on reading to see some shots from the performance as well as how you can own this painting. Fair warning though, it is pretty bloody.
Oh look! Press release:
On Sunday March 20th, 2011 the Von Cyborgs had their first U.S. debut performance at New York Cities Club Rebel. This avant-guard performance included suspension, needle play, blood, and candle wax. The performance began with Samppa Von Cyborg inserting multiple needles in the forehead and arms of Aneta Von Cyborg and painting the words murder + victim across her chest; as she kneeled on the stage exposing her milky white skin that created a lovely contrast to the vivid red blood. Once the needles were removed the blood was collected to be utilized by Samppa to create a master piece. As Samppa diligently went to work on the canvas in the background; Aneta remained center stage enduring pain and pleasure through use of needles and candle wax. Both performers were absolutely captivating and together created such an incredible energy. As you looked around the audience each person waited in baited breath to see what next stroke Samppa would make with the brush and what each drop of blood used would create. Each second that went by the image slowly revealed itself; though usually Samppa creates the images of notorious serial killers this time the master piece created was a blood portrait of Steve Haworth, Lukas Zpira, and Samppa himself, the C-Y-B.ORG masters whom also performed and gathered for the C-Y-B.ORG Sickness Tour. As Samppa took his last stroke; Aneta was suspended 2ft above the stage suicide style; resembling a trophy victim to be adorn. Samppa then exited the stage; leaving portrait and victim to be exposed and admired by all. Audience members remained hypnotized and amazed by the astonishing performance; which received excellent reviews and had audience members craving another dose of the Von Cyborgs. Their tour began in New York City and will continue across the U.S.; they are available and accepting bookings. In addition the portrait created has been place up for auction with bidding starting at $3000; proceeds earned will be used to help the people of Japan; a place where the Von Cyborgs have performed on numerous occasions, made many lovely friends and hold very near and dear to their hearts. All and all it can be stated that the Von Cyborgs truly are an experience to remember guaranteed to astonish
There must be something in the water in St. Petersburg because it seems like every week the #Leeds Suspension Team comes up with yet another suspension related photo shoot. What’s really incredible is that they’re continually upping the bar when it comes to using suspensions as an art form in their works. This week we’ve got a piece entitled “Medieval Virgins”.
This is just one of a number of photos the crew sent in for this set, as well as a couple of other sets shot recently. It’s definitely worth taking a few minutes and checking out the team’s BME gallery.
The newest member of the IAM family, EG_217, sent in some photos of her suicide suspension facilitated by Brian Wood. I like that this was taken in a storefront of some kind, giving her the look of being on display.
When it comes to suspension photo shoots, #Leeds Suspensions always delivers a fantastic set of photos. While in the past I’ve attributed the group’s work to Arseniy, in reality he’s just one member of a fantastic group of people who are always looking at suspensions through a creative lens.
This particular shoot is entitled “Vegan Animal Protest”.
#Leeds Suspensions recently got their own BME gallery, so head on over to see more of the creative suspensions this group has done.
