Biohackers: A Journey Into Cyborg America

“I just want to see how far I can push the human.”

The Verge has just posted a very fun little documentary on “Grindhouse Wetwares” and other groups working on functional implants and “scrapheap transhumanism” (love that term), as well as some great coverage of magnetic implants and things like that. It’s a bit over ten minutes long and lots of fun. Set some time aside and check it out. I have to be honest that I am not terribly impressed by what has been done so far, but these are baby steps being taken, and I hope that even if it falls far short, I’d like to think it will inspire people to go further and do it better.

Sitting on top of the world

A little while back, the gang from Ascension Body Mods got together for some suspensions.  Below you can check out Lesha.FFG hanging out in the warm New Mexico sun.  You might recognize Lesha from her unique scarification that was featured a couple of years ago.

After some discussion with Sean and TrickyDick, we decided to name this “The Invisible Chair”.  Of course if there is another name for it, please let me know as the three of us couldn’t think of it.

Anyway, Steve was the one who threw the hooks for Lesha, and he was also the one to cut down her legs so she could transition into a suicide.  For those of you who have never seen a transition before, keep on reading as Steve sent in a video of the transition.

There are a lot more videos available in the video galleries, and as you can see by this video, they’re not all related to the hard galleries.  So if you’ve got some videos you’d like to submit, send them in!

Pain Solution puts the art back into performance art

Here is a video sent from our friends in Pain Solution. These guys really have a great grasp on the performance art side of sideshow performance, and I hope everyone enjoys this video as much as I did.

PS: Thanks to Roo, for making this video into a format even I could figure out how to post.

Jokes on you

People who know me well will tell you that I am a Youtube-er. I browse their vids all the time, and post them everywhere and anywhere. I really enjoy the videos coming out of Current‘s channel, what with all the tongue in cheek humor and colourful characters.  This video is a guide on how to make a Youtube video about your new tattoo. And if you are looking for something a little…racier? Well why not check out some of these videos.

Cheers!

Rachel on The Molls Show!

So, if you’ve been around the Internets once or twice, you probably know the lovely Molly McAleer, formerly of Defamer and other various hilarious online ventures. (She even beat Christina Hendricks for “Best Newcomer Boner” on Boner Party! The Internet is a magical place.) Well, now she’s hosting The Molls Show, and wouldn’t you know it, she just had BME‘s own Rachel on as a guest to answer a very special question about tattoos. The whole episode is fun, but if it’s just Rachel’s soaring soprano you wish to hear, skip ahead to the 2:00 mark. And then go back and watch the rest of it.

Fat City Reprise (Tattooed Musical Beasties)

I was lucky enough to be able to tag along with Tommy Agriodimas while he was doing a photo shoot with Fat City Reprise. After chatting for a while about their tattoos and their Philly origins, I figured I’d video some of it to share on BME. We did a quick interview and I threw together this video in the cab of a 26′ moving truck during the drive from NYC to LA.
