Alright I'm sorry to say enough is enough. I've been reading now here on BME for some time, and some of the articles I've read, I'm sorry to say, offended me. Not those that are showing their experience and/or embracing the fact that they felt that strange sensation that they must once again feel to better understand it through piercing, but those that try to discourage people from piercing and tell us not to and/or want to change are minds..

I have a problem with this.. Why you ask? Because it is up to you to decide whether or not you want YOUR body modified, not anyone else.. Make sure you do it for the right reasons, yes, but don't allow others to discourage you from doing them. I may not have but three modifications, My Tongue and two in my left ear, but I know that feeling, that "need" that comes from having one piercing, then the addicting force of the emotion behind it. I am one of those people that believe if you don't like the way I look, or why I modify my body, get over it, it was my decision, my choice, not yours. I don't care one bit for those that have their stereotyping mouths. I believe myself that today's society has begun to change and except the fact that one should be allowed to modify themselves to the way THEY want.. But Society still has a long way to go..

But if we all keep up the effort of making it known that we are decent people and are good, nice, REAL people, then perhaps one day, even one day soon, we may just find that it is no different to see someone modified then it is to see someone walk their dog down the street. I'm sorry if I ranted, but I was just tired of fools thinking that it is acceptable to decide for other's how they think and perceive what they are doing to themselves.. You want to modify yourself? Go right ahead.. Have you thought it through clearly and realize everything that goes with it? Good for you. You are like the other true Modifiers out there, like myself.. You have my commendment and thanks. You actually have intelligence.

The rest of you who are thinking about starting, a word of advise... You may find it painful, you may find it addicting, you may find other's don't like it. But remember it is you who makes the final decision, do it wisely.. As well do it legally, please if you are not an adult as of yet, make sure you have an adult's permission at least.. Remember if it wasn't for Adult's you wouldn't be getting pierced to begin with, think, your piercer is (or should be, even if their maturity isn't) an adult. It's a matter of being responsible and understanding that, yes, I realize that my body is still growing and that this could have dramatic effects on it's growth.

As well, please, try to get it done by a professional. I've read to many experiences where they had done it themselves.. Remember you can't properly sterilize the "equipment" you are using, as well, you aren't even using the proper tools. Now it's one thing if you are a professional, piercing yourself, and using the proper tools and knowledge. It's another to be piercing yourself without EITHER of those, just to say you did it yourself, or to say you have a modification. I've witnessed too many people get infection from doing so, and/or screwing up the Mod all together. As well, permanently scarring themselves and risking their lives, when they could have just waited a few more years and could have been smart about the whole thing, letting a professional do it..

As well, remember please to actually research around and don't just have a spur of the moment, do some word of mouth, etc. When I had my own tongue pierced (I'll be including my Piercing soon to BME for all to enjoy), I had word of mouth from someone who had their already done, as well I checked the place finely before I got stuck. Granted it was the same day I got stuck, but still.. I trusted the piercer, as well as his medical knowledge (Yes he was a med. student), and the fact he was, as well as the room was, sterile. I'll get into more of that when the time comes.. Just remember, this isn't a hobby or something to do because you want to fit in, this is

something that will change your life, and something that will bring you to a whole new experience.

I, personally, will cherish my modifications, and any others I may get in the future, for my life.
