I have never considered my self a stupid person, nor do I believe I lack common sense. I have always
been very avid reader of proper techniques involved in body modification. Unfortunately this story will
just prove that even a person that knows what to expect when getting piercings can sometimes make
really dumb mistakes.

When I turned 18 I decided to get my lip pierced. . I was out of town, down in Austin Texas to be
exact. I guess it was just a wild hair, I knew that I should have waited till I got home to get my lip
pierced, but I chose to get my lip pierced there instead of waiting until I got home and going to my
usual place in Deep Ellum where I had gone so many times before. My friends assured me that the shop
was outstanding and that they had all gotten piercings there before.

Well, when I went in the shop something just didn't feel right about the place to me. I should have
followed my gut. I usually do. Why I didn't this time I will never know. It must have been the sheer
excitement that blinded me. On the surface the place appeared clean and sanitary and the girl at the
front was nice and helpful. I waited about an half an hour and then it was my turn. I was shown to the
room that the piercer used and I took a seat on the long black table and waited for the piercer to come
in to the room. The piercer appeared moments later. At that time I didn't notice anything of the norm
.The guy in the room looked like an average 30 or so yr. old guy nothing strange or out of place. I
should have know to be edgy when I asked the "piercer" how long he had been doing this and working
at this particular shop...and I got no answer. I guess I was so excited about getting the piercing that I
just shrugged him off as a quite guy. Little did I know, I was in for a bad experience

It had seemed odd to me that he already had everything out on the table ready to go. I didn't see any
new wrapping on the equipment when I got in the room , but I just shrugged it off. I waited as he
walked around the room messing around in the cabinets like he was looking for something. He didn't
talk to me the whole time. I was there for about 10 minutes or so just sitting on the table looking at this
guy rummaging around the room looking somewhat nervous now. Then he walked over to me and just
tilted my head back and picked up the needle with out making a reference mark on my lip or asking me
any specific questions about what I wanted. I knew that something was terribly wrong. I grabbed his
hand and he just looked at me like I had really pissed him off. I screamed and Luckily I was able to
spring up off the table and out the door before he did any damage. I ran out of the room to the front
desk and asked the girl at the front what was going on. She looked back at the piercers area and told
me that the guy outside of the room ( the one who was trying to poke holes in me) wasn't the piercer
and called one of the guys working there to grab him. She said she didn't know what was going on and
she didn't know who the guy was and then she grabbed the phone to call the police. Luckily one of the
male tattoo artist grabbed the man before he could run out. I had to wait of the police to come and
made a statement about what happened. They asked me if I wanted to file charges and I think I was
just in a daze. I didn't know what was really going on. I know they took the guy to jail. It Turns out
the guy in the room was just some random guy off the street. Talk about weird. I never really found
out what happened to the guy. I am just glad I got out of the room before he started poking holes in
me. I don't know why this happened and it is really a freak occurrence, but you just have to be careful.
learn to trust your body to tell you when something is wrong.

Moral of the story--There are some real wackos out there.
Follow your gut and Stick with what it tells you.

To all who read this story it is indeed a true story and Always watch out for these signs:

The body piercing business is a side business to some
other type of store, (other than a tattoo shop)

The inside of the place does not appear clean. Pay
attention to the floor as well.

The piercer acts in a condescending manner, does
not keep an understanding attitude, or refuses to answer
any of your questions.

They initially slander other piercing shops in front of you.

The piercer does not give information on after care or
type of jewelry.

The piercer is under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The piercer does things that you know are stupid. Use
common sense.
