When N/A
Everyone can tell a modified person by their navel rings, scarification pieces, inked skin, ect. But, the true, and I think, most significant modifications come from the mind when we get pierced, tattooed, or what ever.

When we get modified, we challenge different parts of our brains. We tap into fear, uncertainty, bravery, creativity and so much more. We get more out of the mod than the obvious physical piece. We too, exercise emotions and strengths that without engaging in these modifications, we might not even know existed. I believe, we owe a lot to our mods, the thanks should go a lot deeper than the physical beauty they provide us with.

Many people see the spiritual side of getting a mod to be a growing experience for them. Most, don't realize the other components it took their body too carry out such an act. The spiritualness you might feel from a suspension or blood play session, might be just as strong for someone's tongue piercing experience that exercised their fear emotion. I think, as long as the mod you're receiving is giving your mind, brain, or soul a work out, it's very important and deserves credit.

One thing, I think all of my mods have provided me with is a new sense of self. I now better recognize my strengths, limits, boundaries and courage. I have learned to push myself harder and harder each time to get over the anxiety I might be feeling. My mods have allowed me to feel like I can do anything I set my mind to, I feel as though I've done things I never would've expected myself to be able to do. I feel much stronger because of it, too. I am grateful beyond words for the opportunity to engage in having healthy, successful mods in a good environment.

I've matured, I believe, since I started getting modified. I have a new sense of the people around me, and other people in the world. I have taught myself, through these mods, to not be so judge mental or to be so quick to make assumptions about other people that might not be exactly like myself, or that do things differently. I have become much, much more open minded and I have an easier time accepting other people. As someone who has been seen as 'different', there is an appreciation there that I might not have been able to express before.

Ones creative side is also expressed and is able to shine through. When designing a tattoo, or scarification piece, your mind has to work in a way to be able to come up with an idea that you'll be satisfied with for the rest of your life. (With some help from your artist, of course.) You must be crafty and have good ideas to come up with a fantastic design that you're willing to have decorate your body. Even trying to decide on placement, and size takes creativity skills.

Your mind must work in an open minded way. Being modified, you have to break down the wall that so many people have built up inside their heads. Once you have done that, I believe you will live a much more simple life. You also, have a better appreciation for people that might be different than you. So many people are too quick to judge those who are different from them, people with mods, (who are generally seen as different), are open to all sorts of people.

Also, I think you can challenge other people with your mods, as well as yourself. It causes people to open their eyes and ask questions. It could cause them to feel enlightened, frightened, intrigued or a bunch of other mind expanding thoughts. If you expose people to things that might seem out of the norm, their knowledge of people, culture and the human race has no other choice but to grow and be benefitted.

I have a different take on the world. I no longer see things as 'challenges', I see them as things that might take me a little more courage or bravery to complete. I see no obstacle I can't over come. I don't put anything past myself. I never did after all, think that I would have ten piercings and be working on getting more. I have surprised myself, in a good way, and that has been so rewarding.

I believe as long as people are getting mods, their minds will continue to grow. It is, in my opinion, beneficial to get the mods that will make you happy because if its's not just to make you feel like you look better, your brain will be the receiver of a greater knowledge, too.

Laugh hard, love life, and keep rockin' the mods, baby.
