Cute and simple, Rachel‘s hearts were done by John Deweese at Great American Tattoo Company in Shelbyville, Indiana. I get a kick out of all these tattoos that are inherently linked to youth culture — in the previous generation of tattooed seniors, most people had military tattoos and sailor stuff and the general iconography of adulthood, but it’s going to be different this time around, with most people wearing the iconography of youth…

  25. I don’t think it’s tattoed, but this kind of necklace is also known as “tattoo-choker”.they were pretty popular when I was in school but this is the first time I see one that really looks like a tattoo, in real life they usually look like cheap plastic crap.

    And actually my necklace is just one of those old cheap plastic tattoo necklaces that you get out of the 25 cent machines at a grocery store, haha. I’ve had it on for years, and can’t have the stomach to take it off.

    Interesting point about the crossover from adult transition tattoos to youthful tattoos as a product of the acceptance of tattoos and them being seen as a youth culture thing (though of course adults do it too, particularly those who had tattos etc when young), evidence that the spread of people getting them is enlargening and encompassing more walks of life. But we all knew that… 🙂
