Pretty bold tattoo for an eighteenth birthday present to yourself! Self-designed (and I assume more inspired by Death Cab For Cutie than a deep need to escape to a specific island), but tattooed by Nathan at Cross Over Tattoo in Bayfront, Newport, Oregon.

I want to live where soul meets body
And let the sun wrap its arms around me
And bathe my skin in water cool and cleansing
And feel, feel what its like to be new

Cause in my head there’s a greyhound station
Where I send my thoughts to far off destinations
So they may have a chance of finding a place
where they’re far more suited than here

  28. I personally wouldn’t be happy to have that tattooed on my body…as someone said, it does look like marker, but hey, if she’s happy with it, that’s what matters.

    who knows.
    mainly, i think band tattoos are sort of a bad idea – what if the band starts to suck?
    oh well.

  34. thats pretty neat.. my girlfriend IAM: girl-23 has a chestpiece with that same saying on it. shes a HUGE deathcab fan, so im sure she will love it.

  46. Personally, I think it’s kick ass! It looks like an oldschool postcard, the colours and font. Super cute!

    And really, who doesn’t secretly kinda cringe about their first tattoo? Mine was well thought out and well done but ehhhh, we all grow up and what was the greatest idea back then is now not so hot.

  73. I think pretty much all of my tattoos look like they were drawn on in marker… people ask me if they’re real all the time, but I love them, they’re exactly what I wanted. I actually am okay with this tattoo, I think it’s cute (even though I’ve never listened to death cab for cutie so maybe I don’t fully understand the context) but am I the only one who thinks it looks crooked?! that’s the only thing that bothers me about it! maybe it’s the way her body is positioned in the photo?

  76. i really love the lettering as far as the tattoo i think it’s wayyy too big for like what it is. if it were a little more detailed it might look better but since the shapes are so plain i think it looks too big. idk. i love that song though, i think it’s actually a great idea for a tattoo.

  97. I also like death cab, but I’m not diggin’ this tattoo, and it’s only going to get worse. I can definitely say the tree is tanned on. (I got a spray on tan a few weeks ago and they had that exact same sticker to “track your tan”)

  103. i love death cab, but this is one of the worst tattoos i’ve seen in a while. possibly ever.

    if it makes her happy, great. personally, i wouldn’t get it as a temporary tat.
