Hold Fast Bubba

This gold anchor (I love the lack of black linework and the still high contrast and definition) was done by Jim Miner at the Long Beach Convention in June, 2005. I should mention that BMEshop has Jim Miner’s book.

  1. i’m going to third that sentiment. i’m not at all a fan of sailor tatts, but the shading and color in this one are awesome. i’m a fan of shading over using lots of black myself.

  2. i too prefer colored shading over blackwork. blackwork can really weigh down tattoos and make them look less like the objects they represent. the gold here actually looks golden, isntead of like something someone drew in pen on paper and then colored in with a marker. mad props
