Rest in Peace: Aloewishes

It’s with great sadness that I have to inform you of the passing of a member of our community.  Last night while cycling to a friend’s house, IAM: Aloewishes (Fredrick Kobrick) was struck and killed in a senseless hit and run.  All of us here at BME are saddened by the loss of Aloewishes and our thoughts are with the family and loved ones.

  1. Oh my god…… I loved him! I am so sorry for this loss. My prayers go out to his friends, family and especially Apolysis.

  2. This makes me so sad. I didn’t know him whatsoever, but he is an artistic inspiration to me personally. Rest in piece, Kobrick.

  3. Holy shit, I remember him posting lots of pics in the past and always posting those very spiritual blogs.

My thoughts and sympathy go out to his friends and family.

    Rest in piece man.

  4. That is fucking bullshit on so many levels! How many people have to die from drunk driving accidents before the laws are changed?? This guy had no insurance and a suspended licence! WTF!!!!! Such a sad, terrible loss.

  5. My jaw dropped and all i could do was stare at this article,im so upset and i don’t think its fully hit me yet…let your spirit sail the wind.

  6. wow, I’m not a BME member but i had submitted a story to this blog. I came here to check and see if anything had been posted and I found this. I knew fredrick. not well. But we was an old and close friend of my husbands. It was so odd to find out the news here. unexpected . RIP fredrick

  7. So very sad, my thoughts are with his family and friends. I didn’t know Aloewishes, but I always admired his thoughtful posts and his beautiful pictures.

  8. i want to scream. fuck. wasting time building for a future that can be swept away in seconds by anyone while missing out on the last few years of a beautiful beings life. learn form this. when a second passes it never returns. fuck.

  9. I had the pleasure of randomly meeting him in Chicago at a coffee shop I frequented a few months ago. We met for coffee the next day and talked for hours. I did not know him too well, but the stories he had to share and his personal point of view was very interesting. He seemed like a kind fellow. It was shocking to see this.

  10. It really makes me so sad to read this. I hate the fact that we even have to have a “deceased IAM members” tool to mark IAM pages as deceased. :(

  11. very sad news :(

i liked to read his comments and entries while i was still on iam.

  12. my thoughts are with his friends and family at this sad time, may he Rest In Peace. drink drivers have long infuriated me more than words can express.

we are losing far too many members of our community recently :-(

  13. The lack of respect for both basic road safety (not driving drunk) and for alternative forms of transportation in this country is overwhelming. As someone who has lost several people to similar things, this story really struck home.

    Rest in peace.

  14. This is so fucking disgusting. He was such a beautiful human and such an active contributor to BME. We are going to miss the fuck out of him. All the best for his loved ones. It’s so sad how often we lose part of our family.

  15. SHIT! I remember loads of pictures of him in the galleries and lurking his iam page because of his previously mentioned zen like posts. This saddens me. May your soul fly free.

  16. “you have a lovely human suit” was the first thing he ever said to me.
that’s such a good first thing to say to somebody.. damn.

  17. Holy crap, I met this kid randomly at Milwaukee Noise Fest last year and didn’t make the IAM connection until months later. What a tragedy as a fellow IAM member and cyclist I can sympathize. We ended up having breakfast together and he seemed really intelligent and had some interesting things to say that really made me think.

    R.I.P.

  18. Seriously was awestruck to see this. I hope to meet aloe sometime in another realm of reality. I am so happy to see how many people he inspired, myself included, it is truly greatful.

  19. :( Awful to hear this. Some of my favorite ethereal conversations were and will be with Aloe. R.I.P. my friend.

  20. Really shocked with this… ive always admired him in a way i cant describe, you will be missed!

  21. seen him on iam and modblog , didn’t know him , but rest in peace , and my condolenses ( sorry if misspelled ) for the family and friends of aloewishes …

  22. Hello I am Freddy’s mom.
I would like to thank all of you for remembering him. He was truly a good kind son as well as a friend to everyone he knew. I am suffering a great loss. I don’t think I will ever ” get over it” . Freddy was Frederick Michael Kobrick lV , he will never be able to pass his name along. This man took everything. He said it was an accident. I’m sorry I totally disagree with the drunken jackass. An accident is ” mishap” or someone having a heart attack while driving and ” accidentally” killing someone. This man knew when he drank and decided to stick his key in the ignition it was ” willful conduct” . I hope he sits in jail forever , his family can see him and talk to him. I will never embrace Freddy in this life again. I am building a memorial page on Facebook for him if you search Frederick Kobrick, you will see the memorial page below it. In honor of Fred, I had tee shirts made with his ” surround your H8 with love” they are black and white. Black for ink, and white for paper. I am going to sell these at what it costs me $12 that includes shipping. I will posting the shirt tonite. If anyone is interested let me know. I am not making a profit on these shirts and nor do I want to. I just want to keep his legacy going. My FB is Denise Panisak Kobrick. add me.
    Thank
    Frederick’s mom
