  11. Because this is just shit. Since when does a poorly shot blurry photo of a very basic piercing manage to get on Modblog in amongst many other pretty bland posts with just an average photo and no attempt at any story, background or point of interest?

  15. You know, fuck all the “mod snobbery” that’s been going on around here lately. People acting like someone only having a couple piercings is “myspace shit” or whatever. Do you people even understand what modification is about? It’s not about “Hey, I’m better than you because I have more mods” or “My mods are more hardcore than yours” or any of that. That’s elitist and it’s lame and it’s the type of mentality I’d hope people involved in modification were trying to evolve beyond and get away from, but apparently not.

    I also don’t recall anywhere where it ever said Modblog was only to showcase extreme or heavy modification. A septum ring that means something to someone is just as valid as anything else.

    And even if part of everyone being elitist pricks lately is because of the BME situation, you’re being lame about it because these people whose pictures you’re tearing apart for not being “modified enough” for you have nothing to do with any of it. How do you think someone feels who loves their piercing or tattoo or whatever, it means a lot to them, and then they come here and see their picture and see the very people who should be supporting them for getting into mods condemning them and ripping on them and saying how lame they are? Yeah, way to encourage modification. Way to encourage anything. If I was them, I’d take out my piercings just so I wouldn’t be associated with some of you.

    As for the whole trendiness some of you seem to think basic piercings are, I have to LOL @ the “only heavy modifications are cool” crowd, because you’re being as sheep-like and cliche as what you’re supposedly ranting against. What’s the difference between someone getting their tongue pierced because it’s trendy amongst their crowd and someone getting more hardcore mods because they’re trendy amongst their crowd?

    Not much.

  19. Edie, I agree completely with your opinions on “Mod-snobbery” but if they are aimed at me I think you may be a little unsure about the issues people have with this place at the minute, which is what I tried to express in my post above.

    I’m far from elitist about mods, which is reflected in the fact that I have only 4 piercings (that are very subtle) and a planned tattoo (which I can’t afford yet).

    I also didn’t intend to belittle septum piercings as I plan to have one in the very near future (I like the fact I can hide it for work).

    My main point was that, if we’re honest, this particular post, and the masses of similar recent posts, are not what we come to Modblog for. The posts needn’t be “extreme” or “hardcore” but maybe just something of interest, a little background info, a story, a joke, a photo that isn’t from a mobile phone.

    She’s a cute girl and the mods look great on her and if you show this to your grandparents maybe it’ll be “new” to them – But thinking this is of interest to a group of people who are into body-piercing just shows a lack of care.

How many posts were just of some girl and Shannon saying something like “Gratuitous picture” or “I love cute modded girls” or some other kind of innuendo? No stories, no info, nothing of interest really, unless of course people were interested in knowing who Shannon thought was hot.

    I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that, but just because things are different now, let’s not reinvent them to be something they never really were in the first place.

    Once more I agree, but must argue that they usually involved a decent picture. The “camera-phone” style of this pic is just one example of the drop in standards here – And the volume of “pointless posts” has gone way up, and that’s why they went unnoticed before and not so much now.

  37. I don’t have a problem with the subject, or the mods… She’s cute, the mods are fine. I have problems with the fact that this photo is blurry and uninspired. I’m not looking for the answers to the world in a photo, I just want something that won’t make my eyes go buggy because I can’t focus on anything. I’ve had better material get rejected as a submission on the main site because it was too out-of-focus, much less featured on modblog.

    And yes, I’m aware that soft focus is a photography technique, as are lomography style pictures, but this photo is neither of these things.

  45. Uh, depsite all the scuffling, I would just like to say that Living Canvas is an awesome piercing place and an even more kickass tattoo place. There aren’t a lot of good places to work done in ARK, but Living Canvas kicks ass.
