Hmmm… 6×9=42? That math doesn’t seem right?

I think the answer is correct, but the question just doesn’t make much sense to me. Well, it took seven and a half million years to get this far… I guess I can be patient. (See also: lots of geek/nerd-esque tattoos).

  1. In Hitchikers.. 42 is the meaning of life. Therefore, this tattoo is saying 69 is the answer to everything. Hey.. Makes sense. :D

  2. In “The Restaurant at the End of the Universe”, Arthur Dent attempts to discover the Question that leads to the answer “42″ by extracting it from his unconscious mind, through pulling Scrabble letters at random out of a sack. The result is the sentence “WHAT DO YOU GET IF YOU MULTIPLY SIX BY NINE.”

  3. Snazzy! I love the simplicity.

I’ve toyed around with the idea of a 42 tattoo.

  4. Woo, another 42 tattoo! I have forty-two on my wrist in what looks like handmade scrabble letters…… :)

  5. This tattoo just made my day.
“There is an art, or rather, a knack to flying. The knack lies in learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.”

  6. #17 one of my favorite quotes, and a 42 reference in one, my day is definitely made… Now all I have to do is find out how to get rid of this pain in the diodes down my left side…

  7. I love 42 tattoos! 42 is on my inner lip and I’m getting “Don’t Panic” in script with the little green dude this summer on my foot.

  8. love the tat but i hated that damn movie. i didn’t get 20 min. into it before i fell asleep. boring

  9. 21 -

Actually, if you read the preface yourself, you’d know that while yes, the equation is correct in base 13, it was unplanned.

“nobody writes jokes in base 13 [...] I may be a pretty sad person, but I don’t make jokes in base 13.”

  10. Such a good book, and the BBC TV show is great. The new movie however was lacking.

That’s what you get when an American with no concept of British humour tries to Americanise good ol’ British humour.

  11. Yes! Another hitchhikers tattoo. I have don’t panic in big friendly letters on my calf and I’m planning on getting a whole leg piece done with references to to books. So yes…I dig this.

  12. YAY!!!!! I love Hitchhikers Guide to The Galaxy. My favorite series after Harry Potter.

  13. I love the ship powered by the mathematical anomolies that occur when dividing a check in a restaraunt. I think that is such a funny concept.

unfortunately, people usually stare at me funny when I express that love…

  14. I was SOOOOOOOO fucked up tripping and out of my mind the first time I watched it.

And then I was fucking blazed off my ass the second time.

So I have no clue what it’s about.

  15. Awwwwww… I clicked on it with the intention of pointing out the math is right in base 13 but someone already beat me to it. I may be a big geek but I guess I’m not the only one here.

  16. sure its could be hitchhikers but i thought of sex right away…
    69 is 4 2
the 69 position is for two people.
    get it? ha? ha?

  17. #26 actually the screenplay was mostly written by Douglas Adams, he was VERY much involved until his death. He even wrote the part for John Malkovich, FOR him… Garth Jennings was the director, he’s british…

I love how people always try and compare movies to books, and then say the movie was bad because it wasn’t just like the book. It’s a movie, it’s gonna be different. I thought the movie was brilliant!

  18. i thought the movie failed to capture much of the wackiness that the book contained. it followed the book step by step, but it omitted a lot of dialogue and narration that gave the book its charm.

  19. I agree with post 39. =)
I loved reading it, nice and absurd. ^^

Back on topic: All I have to say is: “Wish I could ‘ve thought of that.”

  20. I haven’t been hanging around modblog much in the last few months because of school, but when I saw this it made me glad I stopped by :)
