ModProm III – Details!

It is with great pleasure that I am able to announce the triumphant return of BME‘s ModProm! Everybody’s favorite excuse to break out the seersucker and classy it up for one special evening is back for another year, this time in one of downtown Toronto’s premier party establishment, The Berkeley Field House.

Make no mistake, though — this isn’t just a night to play dress-up. This is a real prom, complete with tearful, mascara-smearing exchanges in the ladies’ room, awards (at the moment, the superdelegates are split 50/50 on Prom King) and the chaperonage nonpareil of renowned family man Bob Saget! (No, we haven’t seen the Aristocrats, why do you ask?) As if that’s not enough, you can also look forward to delicious food, an open bar and, above all else, a night with friends and family that will be impossible to forget.

Check this page frequently for new information! Until then, pop your zits, buy a corsage and prepare for June 28, 2008! The war is over — tonight, we dance, prom-style!

Travel & Accommodations

The two main airports to fly into are Toronto’s Pearson International Airport (YYZ) and Toronto’s City Centre (YTZ). There is also Hamilton (YHM) and Buffalo (BUF), NY. Significantly cheaper flights can be found by flying into BUF and then taking either the bus or the train.
Inexpensive flights from the NYC area to down town Toronto

There is a new bus service called Mega Bus which offers service from all over the east coast and can get you from NYC to Toronto for 26 dollars round trip. This is assigned seating so if you’re going to take the bus, book as soon as possible!

Any hotels in the downtown core will work perfectly. Remember that it is the end of Pride Week so hotels will be selling out quickly. I will be posting block room rates shortly but if you find a good deal before then, book it!

This year would not be as fabulous as it’s going to be if it wasn’t for the most amazing donations from sponsors around the globe. So far we have tons of goodies from the following:

Anatometal: Three pairs of Custom Bling Earrings
h: Two Pairs of Custom Earrings

Infinate Body: Two Pairs of Custom Earrings, a complete set of Gem in Gem Navel barbells in all color combos

  1. Aww that sounds so fun I totally want to go!
But Canada is a bit far haha.
Lols megabus new :p I wonder if one day the whole world will have megabus, i discovered it 4 years ago and apparently even back then I was “way behind everyone else” It will dominate!
So err do you have to wear prom dresses?

  2. Yep! You have to dress all fancy pants! :P I’m trying to find the portraits from the last two Proms. They were so much fun!

  3. Is this only open to 19+ then because of the open bar? :( I’m going to have to wait another two years, I hate having a late birthday. >_<

  4. Nope, it’s not 19+. It’s 16+. It’s pretty much the same rules as a wedding. The bartender will be checking ID.

  5. How do you guys manage to have $100 for the tickets let alone the money to be able to afford a plane ticket/driving up there!?!?!

If it were cheaper and closer (in the US), I’d go….

  6. Oh man. I would love to go to this so bad. :( One day, I’ll go. :) It’s gonna require a good bit of saving though. I hope it turns out well!

  7. I’m not sure if it was obvious but you can win a free ticket and a date with Shawn Porter for $5 dollars a ticket. That’s a way to get in the door cheaper!

  8. HOLY SHIT THAT MEGA BUS THING IS THE COOLEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN. I found $15 to toronto from nyc and $25 back. I think I might actually be making it to mod prom!

now I just need a date!

  9. Viva Hate, I found a $1 ticket from Toronto to NYC off of Megabus and I can’t wait to go at the end of August!!

  10. Hmm…perhaps if I could convince my buddy in TO to go as my date …but alas, i don’t think he’d want to dress up. :(

  11. hmmm. So who’s having the anti-prom? :p There was always one in high school, it only seems fun to have one now. Lets all wear our worst clothing, get drunk, and reek havoc!

Just kidding, hope everyone has fun.

  12. Ah, the field house @ Berkeley Church! It’s a pretty nice place, I’ve had the chance to work right next door at the Berkeley for a couple of music venues.

    Have lots of fun!

  13. thats fucking lame…. guess this guy thinks hes real important! pfft whatever…

  14. My girlfriend isn’t able to make it this year, so… instead of inviting someone else, I decided to offer myself up for raffle. The money you bid on the date with goes right back to the event. No one is pocketing it.
The raffle is open to all genders and sexual orientations. What you get if you win has already been posted, but… c’mon… free admission to the prom, roll up in a baller limo.. it’s swell!

This is only going to run for a short time so we can get all the i’s dotted and the t’s crossed, so…

  15. Going. Need to find beautifully modded vegan sober date.
I will drive or cant beat the megabus!

  16. Everything on BME, BMEshop and BMEvideo is in USD. It’s the currency I operate in. I’m not sure what the big deal is. :)

  17. I wish I could do it in Canadian, it’d make my life easier on the payments but that would require switching the funds from Canadian to USD and back to Canadian which would give the banks a ton of money I can’t afford to spare. As it stands by using paypal, I only get 95.20 (I think) so because of the transaction fees, every cent (and what is covered by sponsors, goes to the party. I’ll have to cover things like gratuities, taxes and that sort of stuff.
