Much respect

The very first time I saw a pair of vertical lowbrets, I fell in love with those piercings.  At the time (around 2000, or 2001) there were only 4 people in the vertical lowbret gallery and I decided I needed to be amongst them. I proceeded to pierce my own vertical lowbrets at 10 gauge. That goes down in my memories as my most painful piercing experience of all time, which is why I was so impressed to see these 6 gauge vertical lowbrets!

These piercings were done by Wizzer at Body Electric Tattoo in Hollywood, CA.

For some procedural shots as well as pictures of the finished product, keep on keeping on.

  1. wow thats awesome

seeingred, they’d be custom made, most custom makers who work with PTFE/delrin should be able to make them

  2. >>cannot even wrap my head around the angles/dimensions–does it feel beyond weird to have the jewelry underneath like that? I think it would drive my mouth crazy, but then again I have an unnatural oral fixation

  3. you know, not much makes me cringe these days but every time I see vertical lowbrets I can’t help myself. I like them a lot, but ouch!

  4. They look great! I don’t remember the other guys’ name, but his lowbret jewelry would be really long, and this guy has them at a perfect length. It makes me appreciate the lowbrets, because there is no excess length.

To Matthew, they go vertically in front of the jawbone. If you look closer at the shot with his mouth open, the jewelry is in front of his teeth.

  5. Would piercings like that ruin your gums around the roots of your teeth becase of the friction?

  6. I seriously said “holy fuck” out loud when I saw this. They look sweet, I’m diggin the jewelry, but they also look sooo fucking painful!

  7. Can you believe since 1997 we still only have 10 pages of vertical lowbret pictures on BME. Considering most of those are multiple pictures of a few individuals, these are certainly amongst the rarest of viable long term piercings.

  8. I should know by now to wait 30 minutes after I eat before modblogging… this kills me, ouch! HOWEVER I love the finished look, and major respect to him for going through that! I’d be interested to see those in person.

  9. every post i click on, somebody has left a comment saying “There’s not much that can freak me out but THIS is weird”

  10. To the question of do they rub, no not at all, James did an excellent placement job. And yes I did have a little problem with swelling on one side, but it’s fine now. Thanks for all the positive feed back, seems rarer and rarer on modblog these days!

  11. Oh and Kate, they make me feel kind of like wolverine, in that it’s like I have a hidden pair of fangs that could come out when I get mad or something! I love them!

  12. Haha! I just realized I looked like a hooked fish in that first shot! I imagine myself flopping around on the deck of a boat! LMAO

  13. That dude’s got some fucking balls.

This reminds me how badly i want this done… And how much of a pussy I am ;(

  16. Seeing the needle punched through like that squicked me out quite a bit I admit. But then thankfully I was distracted by what certainly looks like a tattoo of Charles Nelson Reilly!

  17. Really beautiful, especially alongside that labret. Really digging the black jewelry.

  18. Large vertical lowbrets are so fucking delicious! I loveeee the look! I couldn’t imagine healing them though! Those delicious glass plugs are amazing.

  19. I lovelove that you referenced marvel comics < 3 and your chin/neck tattoos are cool too
Did you get black ‘plastic’ for a reason other than that it’ll be easier on your teeth/gums? I mean I know they’re custom but would you be able to get either custom metal ones, or different coloured plastic ones? I think they look good in black [they match your eyelets and huge impressive labret] but would you be changing them up for special occasions to better accessorize or anything? Actually I’m being kinda silly, black is perfect, if you have to go to a deathmetal concert or wear a tuxedo it’ll still always go

  21. I am sure there are different options for glass, there is clear, blue, red, green, and black that I know of. I think there are a couple of more colors, but I can’t think of them at the moment.

  22. theres lots of colours, but it matches his labret plug, and black jewellery is always made of win

  23. these look ah-may-zing!

and these look particularly yummy because of the larger gague 🙂 😀

ive only done one pair of vertical lowbrets to date, which healed amazingly well (partly due to my client’s wolverine-like healing abilities). he’s had no gum recession/tooth damage, and wears PTFE jewellery in them to prevent it.
