You don’t bleed enough for me..

Now according to Google, this phrase is from a song by Oomph! entitled “Sex hat keine Macht” (Sex has no power), which I’m assuming is a German band.  Putting the music reference aside, it is an interesting quote to use scarification as a medium, as anyone who has been scarred knows, bleeding is a part of the process.

As you’ve probably guessed by the watermark, this scar was done by Anders from Flesh Impressions in Broadbeach, Qld, Australia.  You can see more of Anders’ work in his scarification portfolio.

Hands Free

2 weeks ago I promised that you’d be seeing some photos from The Piercing Urge in Melbourne, Australia.  Well today you’ve already seen two by Frederick Bain, and now here’s something from the man himself, “Piercing” Pete Sheringham.  I’m not sure how old the tattooed hand is, but it appears much older than the fresh scarification piece.  Also note the ring finger has a band on it, possibly making the scar one inspired by love.

The Friday Follow-up

Today’s follow-up is a simple design that has had some impressive results after healing.  A few months back Gabor Zagyvai carved this heart into a client.

And here’s how it looks today.

Now obviously it’ll still change over the next year or so, but right now it’s looking pretty damn awesome.  Especially for those of you who like dark and raised scars.

Spiritual scarification

It’s no secret that body modification can be a spiritual experience for people.  So it shouldn’t come as a shock to see spiritual symbols appearing in every form of modification.  Take this lotus/Om scarification by Jesse Villarreal.  To some people getting cut for a scarification piece is a way for them to feel a sense of transcendence.  The fact that this experience is coupled with a very spiritual image just makes it all the more significant.

The Friday Follow-up

Alright scar fans, it’s Friday, which means it’s time for the weekly scarification follow-up.  Today’s scar was featured back in March, and is a take on a traditional Mehndi design.  Jesse Villarreal from Main Street Tattoo and Body Piercing in Merced, CA is the artist.

To see how it’s looking 8 months after this photo was taken, you know what to do.

You can see how the line width of the cuts has affected the healing in placed.  From what Jesse says, this is actually just the first part of a larger piece that he’ll be starting on soon.  So keep an eye out for more follow-ups on this particular scar as the weeks unfold.

The Master Returns

It’s been a while since we’ve seen something by Ron Garza on ModBlog, which is a shame, because he truly is one of the masters of body modification.  Ron spends a lot of time on the road, and this scar was done while he was on one of his many trips.  Hopefully we’ll get to see a healed version of this, as I would love to see how the negative space holds up against the scar tissue.

Ron has also created a dvd entitled Professional Piercing Basics.  Sean reviewed it a few months back, and said that “(he) would even go as far as to say this is the best piercing video since  the Pierce With a Pro videos by Jim Ward.  There are a few copies left in stock at the BME shop, so make sure to pick one up today.
