Today’s winner of the nerdiest scar contest goes to this scar by John Joyce.
For those not “in the know”, Boba Fett was a Mandalorian warrior turned bounty hunter. I could be wrong about the translation but I believe the above reads “Adryanna”.
Be it cutting or burning, Brian has scarification down to a science. This recent cutting of his shows exactly why he is a master of both. It should be noted that Brian has had this design planned out for over 6 years, and only recently found someone to put it on.
With his skilled hand he was able to carve this image out of flesh, only to follow it up by branding sections to create shading. It’s exquisite and really shows why Brian is one of the finest scarification artists working today.
For today’s final scar piece, we’re going back to the beginning with another scar from Lary at Larypiercing in Finland. There’s not much to say for this one as the work speaks for itself. It’s super clean, even, and all the lines and nice and sharp. You pretty much can’t ask for any better with a straight cutting piece. Granted when you think of it, with something so precise and controlled, the subject matter is a little ironic.
It’s BMEFest Friday today! By the time you’re reading this I’ll have been on the road for about 6 hours with many more to go. But you don’t want to hear about my day, you want to see some scars!
Today’s scar is from kiana t. who you’ll probably remember from this post a few weeks ago. Well this scar was done about three months ago by Steve, and the design is a Zia symbol altered slightly into the shape of a heart.
To see how it looks today, you know what to do.
I’d say it’s looking really good. It’s already raised up, and judging by the scar on her other leg the darkness of it will fade, but the elevation should remain.
Keep an eye out for more from Kiana, as she has finished her spot project, and it looks incredible.
When I saw this photo in the gallery last night I knew that there was only one Neil that would get this scar of the Asmodeus symbol. Now because this is Neil Chakrabarti, he doesn’t do anything half-assed. For example, his pull/suspension at Suscon earlier this year was dedicated to his good friend Spliff, who was in a horrible car accident last summer, and we’ve also seen his throat suspension, which should never, ever, be attempted. Given Neil’s affinity for all things hellbound, getting a symbol of the king of the demons/prince of hell shouldn’t come as a surprise.
Kcir was the one lucky enough to rip away at Neil’s flesh for what I’m guessing was an extended period of time. You can see more photos of the scar in Kcir’s portfolio gallery.
Seriously. Life would be so much better if every day we could spend 15 minutes bouncing around in one. Ball pits are an acceptable alternative, but there’s something to be said for bouncing around like an idiot in a castle. If you support the bouncy castle initiative, then you should be attending BMEFest 2011. Oh sure, there’s a pool, some goats, baby ducks, slip’n’slides, bonfires, bbq, suspensions, campsites and more, but what matters most is the bouncy castles. Alright, so spending a weekend in Virginia with some awesome people is probably a better reason to come down. So many images come to mind when I look at this scar. On one hand I see a representation of an angel, on the other I see a comic book hero striking a pose. It could also be a character from a video game. Which is what I think I like most about the piece. It could be any one of those things, or it could be something completely different altogether. It allows the viewer to see whatever they want to see, without taking away from the beautiful scar that will be left behind by the cutting.
