I think the world would be a much better place if every kid had The Lorax, The Sneetches, and maybe Horton Hears a Who (and not this new bastardized movie version) in their libraries… I’ve read it to my daughter many, many times, so I was very happy to see this Dr. Seuss tattoo by Will Thompson at Outer Limits in Costa Mesa, California.
“But now,” says the Once-ler,
“Now that you’re here,
the word of the Lorax seems perfectly clear.
UNLESS someone like you
cares a whole awful lot,
nothing is going to get better.
It’s not.“SO…
Catch!” calls the Once-ler.
He lets something fall.
“It’s a Truffula Seed.
It’s the last one of all!
You’re in charge of the last of the Truffula Seeds.
And Truffula Trees are what everyone needs.
Plant a new Truffula. Treat it with care.
Give it clean water. And feed it fresh air.
Grow a forest. Protect it from axes that hack.
The the Lorax
and all of his friends
may come back.”
Where The Wild Things Are is also a story that every child needs to hear. Once again, not the movie they are making that will probably suck.

Aww I love this! The Lorax is such a great book. I think this would look cooler with color, though.
i love this
dr seuss is fantastic
I like Where The Wild Things Are a lot, but those three above I really like on a message level as well as just being really fun books.
my mom always gives kids copies of the Lorax and you’d better believe shes got a lot of motivations in choosing that book =D
That is so awesome. I’ve actually been thinking about getting a Dr. Seuss themed tattoo for a while now… now that I’ve seen how great it looks maybe I’ll go for it.
This is the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen.
I, too have a “The Lorax” tattoo! And it’s on my lower leg. That’s so strange — mine is not the Onceler’s house, a Truffula forest with swomee-swans, humming-fish, and brown bar-ba-loots. When I move back to the US this summer and get it finished, I will have to post pictures.
If you like the Lorax, you should read Wump World by Bill Peet. It’s another wonderful children’s book in a similar vein. They’re two of my favorites!
I have a Lorax tattoo, too, and so does my tattoo artist. I have the pile of rocks with the word “unless”. I’m glad to see there are other people out there who love this book.
I do often wonder where Dr Seuss got his PhD
This is awesome! I have given serious thought to a Sneetches tattoo myself.
my friend was born on the same day (not year) as doctor seuss.
that is an awesome idea for a tattoo!
100 points for this guy.

Not trying to spam, but I should probably look to Dr. Seuss for a new video of mine.

Your mom never gave me a copy of The Lorax, sae…
*pout*
as a dr suess fanatic, i love this!
“I, too have a “The Lorax” tattoo! And it’s on my lower leg. That’s so strange — mine is not the Onceler’s house, a Truffula forest”- So do I! I have two lorax trees on part of my sleeve on my lower leg, and I also have a tree from the inside cover of Horton Hears A Who on that leg too. Aaaaaand I also have a peice on my back from On Beyond Zebra! There is a few photos on my IAM page if you want to see!
That is my Favorite Dr. Seuss book. Awesome piece.
The Lorax is my very favorite book from my childhood and this is a beautiful tattoo. I’ve been planning a Lorax themed tattoo for a while now and I’m actually glad to see there are others also 🙂 This is a book that everyone needs to read, young or old.
I love tattoos based on children’s stories.
The Lorax is my favorite Dr. Seuss book. That’s a great tattoo and I’d love to see it colored.
i like this tattoos
5 stars 😉
That brought a tear to my eye … I’m so happy that I’m not the only one to have been affected by all the books mentioned above. I could go on ..
I love this. I saw someone with Thing 1 and Thing 2 on the inside of his left and right wrists yesterday. I loved those too!
I hate Dr. Seuss, but The Lorax brings me to tears.
wow!…this is crazy! i work with WILL…and its his birthday today…so thats great!…cant wait to see it finished!!!
I had TONS of books when I was a kid, but I think there were only one or two Dr Seuss books among them. I love tattoos based on children’s stories though.
Shouldn’t it read; That the Lorax – not the the Lorax?
I love the way the “illustration from out of a book” look has been done so well.
wow thank you so much.. this is my leg 🙂 this is the first phase of many. i am happy to tell you that it IS going to be full color so just you wait! next session is in about a month if i cant get an appt sooner. this is my favorite story as it was growing up. ill definitely post after each phase. xo
