The Most High Above

Chris was one of my favorite shots from today. I’ve had an awesome response and I can’t wait to post the massive update of photos. This is only the first day!

For those of you asking what the tattoos on Chris’s chest say:

“The Most High Above Is My Only Judge”

“Courage Glory Passion”

It wasn’t until getting online that I saw the L-O-T-S flashing in my inbox on IAM and realized just how many IAM members and BME readers were at the convention! It was great seeing and meeting so many people! Hopefully tomorrow is just as great!

  1. Hm, just curious.. but why are text tattoos always in such overly decorated fonts? Scribbly serif ones that make it so hard to read, in this case it seems more like “Ilory” than “Glory”, or well I assume that’s what it says. O_o

Is it some left over thing from the old days of tattooing, or do people actually like it this way? :S To me it always feels as if people have been trying too hard to make it look prettier..

  2. “trying too hard to make it look prettier”
Tattoos are meant to be pretty 😛
Most people don’t want something like Comic Sans written on their body (though of course there are people who prefer this and similar fonts) I guess it’s because this style of fonts hold connotations of elegance and grace- or at least that’s how I’ve always seen it…
Either way, I think it looks beautiful, and it’s a lovely photo :]

  3. A couple of observations:

    1) AWESOME photograph (by this I’m referring particularly to the technical/artistic aspects of the photo).
    2) Agree with the fonts used in tattoo lettering frequently being so overly ornate that they’re somewhat difficult to read. They do look pretty, though…..
    3) It’s very refreshing (not sure if that’s the right word but give me a break, I’ve been up since 3:00 and have not yet had coffee) to see someone who isn’t white featured here. I imagine there are a myriad of reasons why people of color seem (in my perception, anyhow) to be under-represented either here on IAM/BME or in general in the modded community. And it is also nice that this is a beautiful portrait.

  4. PS, I can’t quite make out what the smaller line of text on the top says – anyone know?

  5. That font isn’t overly decorative.
I much prefer cursive lettering tattoos to any other sort of font that I’ve seen used.

I think this tattoo is very nice.

  6. Gorgeous photo and a beautiful man. I love seeing so much portraiture work on modblog. Keep up the good work guys!

  7. Roo needs to get postin’ more, so those of us that couldn’t make it don’t feel so left out. :p

And I could not agree more.
