I’m still not convinced that these are going to look as good in the long term (say five years or more) without tattooed touchups, but as I’ve said over and over, there is probably no artist working in scarification today that is as good at this style as Dave Gillstrap. He is both the originator of this style and its leading artist.
Other work by Dave featured on ModBlog you may want to check out (and this isn’t all of it, plus he has a portfolio on BME):
That’s just amazing… Though I’d have to agree, this is probably a bit too much for the skin to scar “properly”.. i guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
That is gorgeous!
Dave’s work is always impressive!
It’ll be interesting to see how it heals in the future!
I am black and my skin scars dark with light cuts and either deep or raised with bigger cuts. This type of scarification would probably have a better result on me than tattooing. I can’t wait to find out for sure!
I might also add that Dave can give one hell of a hand job.
the fine lines worked out in te Geisha, so assuming that both people heal about the same way and use the same aftercare methods, it should technically work beautiful.
… But that’s technically .. only time will tell!
that’s an awesome example of what can be done with a mere idea
republicans 4 lyfe!!!
That’s reallly impressive ^_^
Hope it turns out good ‘cos it’s beautiful [=
Normally scarification isn’t my thing but that’s a really really detailed piece and i like it!
