You know what. Nothing I say is going to do this piece by Sonja any semblance of justice.
There’s no questioning Sonja‘s talent when it comes to this style of tattoo. As an artist she looks to other artists for inspiration, and will occasionally create a piece based off that inspiration. This tattoo in particular was inspired by the works of Thomas Hooper.

Getting back to today’s look at Sonja Punktum, here’s a design that makes me think that instead of a massage table to tattoo her clients on, she uses a drafting board.

Sonja Punktum has a knack for capturing geometric forms with dots. Lean back in your chair and you’d swear it was a 3D object sitting on his chest.

Normally when I post something from Sonja, it’s an elaborate geometric design. This is a little different, but you can still see just how well she can work a needle when it comes to dotwork. Oh, and stay tuned today as there’s going to be a lot more awesome from her.

It’s pretty clear that when it comes to dotwork tattoos, Sonja is one of the best working artists of the day. However she isn’t defined by just her dots. Check out this abstract piece that she did recently. It still incorporates dotwork, as you can see in the shoulder, but the back is full of seemingly random patterns.
There’s so much going on here and all of it works together beautifully.
Tattoo by Sonja, Punktum Tattoo, Germany.
Here’s another dotwork tattoo by Sonja. This one was inspired by crop circles, and you can really see how precise she can be when she does geometric designs. I think what stands out most for me is that it isn’t about the dots, but rather the negative spaces that make up the core of the tattoo.
