Art Gallery Suspension Wallpaper

Here’s a beautiful shot of Lu, Yann Breny, and Melodie Gissel suspending, photoshopped to make it look like they’re hung up in an art gallery. If you click through on this image, it won’t just zoom — it will give you the original, massive uncropped 2048×1152 pixel image. I’m presenting it like that because this wonderful shot makes a superb background image for desktops I think!!! On most computers, you should be able to click on the big image, and then when it’s loaded, just right-click and then pick “set as desktop image” or something like that.

Downside-Up

It seems that every time we see Supa here, he’s come up with a suspension that is even more complex than the last.  As I’ve previously mentioned, Supa and the Kaptive8 Suspension Krew have been putting together “transformation” suspensions.  Using a fixed set of hook points, Supa moves from position to position, allowing his body to contort into every possible shape it can manage.  He’s becoming both a marionette and puppeteer.  Here’s his latest, using 6pts and moving through 15+ positions.

Be sure to visit the Kaptive8 Suspension Krew’s BME Gallery to see just how Supa managed to go from an invisible chair suspension, to an inverted lotus.

Three to one

Some of these photos should have been included yesterday with Supa’s 3pt transitional suspension, however they didn’t make it to the galleries until after the post went live.  So here’s part two of yesterday’s post.

As we saw earlier, the Kaptive8 Suspension Krew were testing out some new rigging with Supa hanging by three points; his lower back, the middle of his back, and the base of his skull.  What I incorrectly labeled as his final position was actually the mid point in the transformation.  Supa started vertically with his head on top, transitioned to a horizontal modified superman, and then finally ended up here, the complete inverse of his original position.

From there, he removed two of the hooks and finished up with a 1pt suspension from the back of his head.  Specifically the conjunction spot of his spine and skull right opposite his third eye.

Remember to keep in mind that Supa is continually pushing the boundaries of what the human body can do.  He’s extremely knowledgeable of what he does, and trains specifically for these unusual suspensions.  Do not attempt to copy any of his suspensions without extensive research, training, and the guidance of an experienced practitioner.

Testing, one, two, three

To test out some new rigging, the Kaptive8 Suspension Krew hooked Supa up for a 3pt transformation.  The second and third photos show you the two extremes of the transformation, and the Kaptive8 Suspension Krew gallery has the rest of the photos that show every position in between.

Check back later today for another suspension by Supa.  You definitely don’t want to miss it.

Nine by nine

After Tom’s first suspension, he was hooked.  It’s been 9 years since the accident that cost him his arm and leg, so to mark the occasion he did a 9pt Captain Kirk suspension.  The suspension was facilitated by WayLay Suspension.

Down under cut down

WayLay Suspension recently put on a show for the 2012 Sinner’s Ball in Cairns.  Here’s IAM: WayLay Jake‘s 4pt lotus, with a cut down to 1pt suicide.

Transforming Suspension

Transitioning during a suspension is nothing new.  We’ve seen numerous transitions like a lotus to a suicide or a coma to knees.  This is something different.  What Supa and the Kaptive8 Krew have done here is pretty amazing.  Instead of it being a transition that involves shifting the rigging from hook to hook, or cutting down the line, Supa is “transforming” while maintaining the same 5 points.  Here’s a look at 3 of the 7 positions that he went through.

You can see more in the Kaptive8 Suspension Krew portfolio gallery.

Up, Up, and Away

Photos from the most recent Dallas SusCon are starting to trickle in, which means we’re going to be seeing some incredible suspensions here really soon.  To kick things off we’ve got the lovely Starr doing a 6pt superman that was facilitated by Wings of Desire.  Photo by Naked Lens.
