I recently posted a historical article mentioning that in Ethiopia, mostly women get tattoos. John Durante sends in this photo of him and an Ethiopian client of his at Laughing Buddha in Seattle, Washington. I thought I’d posted it in the past, but I couldn’t find it — my apologies if this is a repeat.
I like this red and black tribal sleeve that Paingiver sent in, done by Leah Moule at Spear Studio in Birmingham, UK.
One of my favorite people in the entire world, a former teacher and man who’s a happy modern Great Omi (he writes, “A Smile is Worth So Much More Than a Frown”), is Tribalface in Durango, Colorado. Seriously, I just get so happy every time I see his picture. It’s amazing that something as simple as seeing a happy, well-adjusted, heavily tattooed guy can bring me such smiles.

It’s fairly rare to see First Nations tattoos (Ryan is the only person I know with one in person), so it was nice to get this picture. Bill sends in this tattoo of Iroquois style work (with a little bit of Europe tossed in), done by Justin at Sleepy Hollow Studios in Welland, Ontario.
I love this coverup done by Diau-An (and designed by the wearer, Cohen) at Diau-An Tattoo in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. He writes, “after many years and many layers of ink I designed something to make it all a more cohesive whole.”
The chestpiece is inspired by a film (and works very nicely with his body), and the rest is all original, designed by the wearer, and tattooed by Alan at Bill Claydon’s Tatttoo World in Fayetteville, NC.
Maybe I’ve been a bit heavy in the BMEgirls department and haven’t been posting enough guys. I think if I come out of the closet (dubius) as some people have suggested (falsely) is happening in January, at least you can probably make an educated guess as to what sort of look I’d hit on. Thanks to Neil Suarez for letting me steal a couple of pictures off his page.
