Help is out there

The following photo was submitted anonymously with the title “Sexual Assault Survivor”.  It’s a simple tattoo, but it also speaks volumes about the strength this person has to be able to share with the world that they are a survivor.

If you or someone you know is the victim of sexual assault, please get in touch with one of the many organizations out there.  There are people out there that are willing to help.  With yesterday being a day of action to stop bullying, it is good to remember that men, women, and children can all become victims of sexual assault.  Now I’m not making a direct comparison between the two, but in both cases, there are people out there that do care, and want to help.

For more information, please contact your local support organizations, or visit RAINN.org for a list of international support numbers.

  1. I can’t speak for the owner of the tattoo, but when I went through this myself I felt everything fall apart and that piece never really fits back in.

  2. The puzzle piece is a symbol for a place that I work for (Tri County Council on Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault.)

  3. Beautiful. And oddly timed – the past few days, I have been thinking more on my assault, for a variety of reasons. A nice reminder that there are others who made it through.

  4. amazing and so awesome!!! I have a survivor stamp on myself…it has helped me pull through it….and been such a part of my strength when I thought I could not move forward!!!

  5. That is amazing! I don’t have a survivor stamp per say…but a great friend and I have matching black sheep tattoos – it has helped me a lot. I don’t feel so alone dealing with all of this alone!! :) It symbolizes society’s view on talking about this topic and just how it can make you feel.

  6. I understand the meaning of this tattoo and i think its great but it really reminded me of all the saw movies how he cuts the jigsaw piece outof thier skin
