No modblog today, but…

Those of you with experience editing wikis, we’re converting the BME encyclopedia to that interface. It’s not going to be public access for now (the editing), so I really really need editors — click here for more information on how to sign up.

The “I don’t want to grow up” classic Nintendo controller tattoo here is by Pugzley at Black Cat Tattoo in Austin, TX. Sorry I couldn’t post more today, but I need to focus on this other work tonight. I will post tomorrow though!

Pi divided by 2 tattoo

So he saves up all this money to buy his girlfriend something nice for their third year anniversary, and then she dumps him! So the money went to this tattoo instead. “I’m not bitter… honest,” he tells me. I do however like the geeky cry of “once we were the full diameter, now I am only the radius” (or something like that — if you’re a mathematician, rewrite that for me so I don’t look like a dummy who needs to go back to school).

Tattoo by Janpaul at Admiraal Tattoo, Amsterdam

What makes them tick?

I can make a good guess as to what the video game portrait tattoo says about the bearer (tattoo by Darwin Enriquez at Mithostattoo in Caracas, Venezuela), and I can make a very good guess as to the interests of the bearer of the drumsticks tattoo as well (by Oreoner).

But I wouldn’t have guessed the meaning of this marshmallow tattoo by Javier at House of Pain in Santa Clara, CA… the bearer tells me, “I’m comfortable like a marshmallow.”

Tattooed PowerPoint girls are cute…

…not that I know it isn’t on a guy who likes heels.

Check out this ultrageeky PowerPoint Logo Tattoo on DeKalb by Shane Willoughby at Sacred Heart in Atlanta, Georgia… You’d think I’d be jaded by now, having seen almost everything tattooed, but I have to admit that if you told me see this tattoo get submitted, I’d have expressed real disbelief.

I <3 Geek Girls

Since they’re always a hit, let me share a few more pictures from our growing archive of geek and nerd tattoos. Check out these two (both on the same person) of a Resident Evil Umbrella Corporation logo, as well as the start of an Amityville Horror chest piece. Both tattoos are by Jay Chapman at Hallowed Ground Body Art Studio in Portland, Maine.

And now for something a little more traditional, a Linux Tux with some binary:

Note that the binary is fresh in this picture and you can see a donut of swelling (or the person has bizarro musculature, ha).

Genetics and Evolution Tattoos

Two ways of talking about the same theological conundrum perhaps? The DNA tattoo (currently just outlined) is by Trevor Collis of Iron Age Studio in Saint Louis, Missouri, and the evolution themed calf tattoo is by Roger from Steady Tattoo in Minneapolis, MN. As I understand it, both of these tattoos are illegal under the USA PATRIOT ACT, and if the owners are not careful who they show them to… off to Gitmo!
