One of the things that I think is unfortunate about BME, and I think the modification community in general, is that it is racially skewed toward Caucasians (or at least that’s how it seems to me). Anyway, I wanted to share with you this with you (by Ron from Sacred Art Tattoo, Springfield, MO) because the strange truth is I have received more “animal rights” tattoos than “civil rights” tattoos. The priorities of modern society I suppose?

Ah, the classics.
Let’s play the old BME game of “do you know what you’re looking at”?

Here in NYC, trying to take a load off
Well, as you know it’s been a stressful last week (although I think that we all — IAM members especially) handled it really well. I’m in New York City right now as you know (a little business, a little pleasure, including meeting fellow body bloggers) so I’m trying to keep myself from working while I’m here, but you know me… I just can’t stop. But this picture care of Disintegrate pretty much sums up how I’d like my week to feel…
My hotel is right next to Central Park, so I suppose I could find a dandelion, but I think it’s still way too early in the season here to enjoy blowing away the seeds.
Cherry Blossom Rib Tattoo
I sure like this rib piece by Jay at Passage in Toronto after just the first sitting on Soliel. Not a fan of the big black bars, but what can I say? Beggars can’t be choosers — I have an evil half and a good half, with different needs. At least the good half is happy!
The Heart is a Puzzle
Yeah, I suppose I can relate to that. Actually, for me, the heart’s not so much a puzzle, but can be best summed up by what I believe is a quote from one of my favorite movies, Whale Music.
Born-again Christian: “Have you invited the Lord Jesus into your heart?”
Desmond Howl: “No, the place is a mess.”
Naw, just kidding, I know what’s up with my heart. I just wanted an excuse to quote that. Anyway, this puzzle heart tattoo (missing a piece) was drawn by the wearer (so please don’t copy it) and executed by Deluxe Tattoo in San Pedro, CA.
“We are only numbers”
I’m told this took only about ten minutes to do, by Klas in Gothenburg, Sweden. The full meaning of the tattoo, I am told, is “We are only numbers in a fascist world. We are all prisoners in a capitalistic society.”

NYC, here I come!
There are a lot of reasons I’m headed to New York, some business, some pleasure. I’ll be there from tomorrow night until Friday… got myself a nice little hotel next to Central Park so if I get bored I can go for a walk and get mugged or get a bj from a hobo or something. Anyway, part of the reason I’m going has to do with the photos below of Charlotte Bell and Bella Vendetta (pictures by Bob Coulter).
You decide whether this falls into the pleasure or business category.
Anyway, I’ll try and keep the blog updated while I’m gone, but no promises.
Green Man Backpiece Tattoo
Elisabetta just finished off her backpiece. It’s one of the nicer Green Man themed pieces I’ve seen, by Stefano Marchesini from Apelles Tattooo in Bologna (Italy).
