The Friday Follow-up

This week’s follow-up was actually supposed to be up last week, but thanks to some technical difficulties it had to be put off a week. Today’s scar was cut about 3 months ago by Richard ‘Effin’ Ivey, and features everybody’s favorite non-bear bear.

So that’s how it looked fresh, and here’s how it looks today…

Now Richard is moving to the west coast in a few weeks, so those of you looking to get work done while he’s still in Raleigh, NC should book a spot now. Hopefully we’ll still continue to get updates of healing scars after Rich moves.

Guess What?

Well after yesterday’s play piercing related Guess What? post, I figured I should follow it up with one that involves a piercing of a more permanent nature. There’s actually a great story that goes along with this one, so be sure to read ahead even if you can’t figure it out.

It’s not every day we get an elaborate outer labia project, so check out the photo below to see it in all it’s glory.

Now, those of you who guessed HCH, you were close enough to being right that you get a point. And those of you who were thinking it was tonsil related, sorry, better luck next time. Now as I mentioned before there is a story behind these piercings and the chastity play. Here’s how IAM: Spanklet describes her interest in modifications…

My nipples were pierced as a gift for my 21st birthday and my labia were pierced in 2001 – the first time. It was during this time that I had my horizontal clitoral hood pierced which has now stretched to 8 gauge.

After life changes it was suddenly 2012 and I decided to reconnected with my own body and had my outer labia pierced again 6 times, with 3 on each side all done at once using 8 gauge needles and jewelry. In the following 12 months these jewels have been upsized to 2 gauge (6mm diameter). Sadly two piercings were rejected by my body leaving 4 outer labia piercings at this time.

My inner labia have 6 small gauge piercings, 4 of which were done in 2001 and the next two done on my kitchen table by a good friend in 2011.

Aside from the obvious aesthetics, my interest flows onto using weights for the joy of sensations and also with interesting jewelry to adorn my most intimate and womanly parts.

There’s something about flying out of a tree while attached to a suspension rig that makes me think of Midsummer Night’s Dream. Although when I think of Robin Goodfellow, IAM:Balthazar isn’t the first person to come to mind.

Working Together

We’ve seen quite a few collaborative scarification pieces on ModBlog in the past. In fact we see quite a large number of collaborations when you take into account tattoos, and body piercing. However, what we often neglect to focus on is the collaboration between the artist and the client. With the exception of DIY modifications, pretty much everything we do is a collaboration of some kind. Be it something as simple as discussing the subject matter of a tattoo, or something as complex as rigging up an elaborate multi-person suspension with a team, it all requires cooperation.

It’s part of what makes our community so close, as well as unique. We share our stories with others, and when it comes time to change ourselves we put trust in another individual to have our visions come to fruition. Take this scarification by Misty Forsberg from Southtown Tattoo and Body Piercing in Fort Smith, AR. Now Misty was the person who did the cutting, but it was Justin (from Rise or Die Tattoo in Fayetteville, Arkansas) who designed the image, making this piece a collaboration between the two artists.

So remember, it’s the trust between the artist and the client that bonds this community together, and makes each and every piece a collaboration of some form or another.
