This set of surface bar (the right way to do surface piercing in my opinion) hip piercings was done at Get It On Tattoo and Piercing in San Diego, California.

Twylasue and Gypsylou
No offense intended but I suspect they are high. Don’t worry, though, I’m high* too, so they’re in good company.
* High on life that is.
House Flies and Sparrows
Sophie Lu‘s great house fly tattoos were done by Jon at Uptown Tattoo in Minneapolis, as was her sparrow sketch, which you can see if you click through the picture.
I have no idea what the t-shirt says
But I do know that those are 1 1/8″ lobes.
Reconstructive Lobe Surgery
Nerpy decided to have her 5/8″ lobes closed up and took picture of the process along the way. From left to right, what you see is:
- 5/8″ lobes after having them for five years
- 28 stitches after reconstructive surgery to reverse ear stretching
- One month after stitch removal
- Six months after surgery
An Enlightened Body Modification
Vampire McMuffin (hilarious username by the way) had this nice third eye piercing (a dermal anchor) done by John Rowan at Rendezvous Tattoo and Body Piercing in Blacksburg, Virginia. If you’re interested in learning more, he’s written two articles about it: Prying Open My Third Eye and Part Two which are both good introductions if you’re interested in trying out this type of modification.
Getting tattooed on the beach
Slashface was traveling in Koh Chang, Thailand and while on the lonely beach he came across Blue’s bamboo beachfront tattoo hut, and decided to get a skeletal horse animal of some sort done. He describes the process of having the tattoo done using traditional hand-poking as “slow and painful”, but the results seem good. But I do wonder if Blue’s taken a blood borne pathogens course?
Famous People’s Tattoos
Audacia — who you may know as the editor of $PREAD Magazine, her writins on Fleshbot, or her book, or her blog — got this “I Sing The Body Electric” tattoo done by Joy Rumore (TheMilkmaid.com) at 1228 Tattoo in Brooklyn, NY. Wow this entry had a lot of links.
Let’s see… I wonder which Body Electric this refers to?
No, it has nothing to do with the movie!
I always like unexpected reasons for tattoos. The wearer of this “DUDE” tattoo (by Kim Dark at Immortal Images in Melbourne, FL) says, “Believe it or not, this has nothing to do with Dude Where’s My Car. I had a shirt with that on it that, and I had the best times of my life wearing it.”
I have the same explanation for my “SWEET” tattoo by the way.
Matching Tattoos for Geeks
Awwww! Jay Brown from Falling Moon in Moscow, ID did this pair of binary star system tattoos on a space-loving couple.
