Memorial tattoo for grandmother
Obviously I have my personal discomfort about the “CREATION” and “WORSHIP” and so on subliminally placed in this touching remembrance piece, but what I really got a kick out of it is that the tattoo was done by Scott at Pain Hate Pain in Akron, Ohio. (Not because there’s anything funny about Scott, but because I think it’s funny when überfriendly tattoos are done at shops with angry names — it’s the word-nerd in me responding).

Think about that next time you decide to mouth off to the cop that pulls you over for speeding. Ah, silicone. Is there anything you can’t do?
Fight Club Tattoo
I definitely didn’t guess that! Mims writes, “this is my brand new tattoo, semi-inspired by Fight Club. It’s a Nitroglycerin molecule inside a heart with crossbones, meaning my heart is explossive and deadly. Sort of speaks of random teenage heart break and mood swings.”
Lior at PsychoTattoo in Tel Aviv, Israel, did this piece.
Three matching hearts
“My cousin and I convinced our eighty year old grandmother to get her first tattoo with us,” writes the submittor of this tattoo. She looks a little stunned by the whole process, but that’s OK — I hope if I live to eighty and have grandkids that they take me out for chamaeleon skin or whatever kids are doing in 2053…
“Poop smear” tattoo
LexTalonis got this Dirty Sanchez finger tattoo as a “protest to the overdone finger mustache tattoos”. In return, I hear his girlfriend has left him as a protest to the poo smear tattoo (j/k). Tattoo by Jason Von Victor at Marlowe Ink in Fairfax, VA.
Incense Brandings
These nine (the top one didn’t scar) incense brands were done by allowing incense cones to burn out completely on the flesh while meditating (so it’s part body ritual, part permanent body modification) — BME has a small ritual branding gallery as well with a little more stuff.

Habakuk (check out his wonderful bonus gallery if you’re a BME/HARD member) sends in this shot of one of his recent scrotal suspensions done at his home in Africa. Oh, and if you’re wondering where his penis is, it’s perfectly intact, it’s just hidden in the scrotal/pubic folds from the extreme distortion caused by the suspension.
