Flowering cubism

When Toronto artist Fabrizio Divari creates an original piece, you know it’s going to be something incredible.  Taking a quick look back you can check out an interview with him, and see examples of his paintings as well as some of his older tattoos.

Now this piece is a cubist take on a calla lily, which are those big flowers that bloom in the shape of a jug.

You can check out more of Fabrizio’s work in his BME portfolio gallery.

Something to keep you warm on a chilly night

Here’s a couple of lovely ladies that should help keep you warm on those long cold winter nights.

First we have gypsyqueen with a floral chestpiece by Shane Barlow from Oni in Salt Lake City.

Next is an in-progress sleeve by Roland Paabo from Auriga Tattoo in Tallinn, Estonia.

Don’t worry, there’s going to be some boys coming up in about an hour for you.

TGIF

Well, the week is almost over, which means its time to start thinking of weekend plans.  By the looks of it HelloStephanie, owner of yesterday’s Hello Kitty tattoo, is gearing up for a wild weekend with her cowboy hat, beer and rum.

The roses on her lower abdomen are by Chris Churchfield from Artform Tattoo in Lower Burell, Pennsylvania.

So, now that we know what she’s up to, what about you?  Is this weekend set aside for holiday shopping, maybe doing chores at home, or is it time to cut loose and have some well deserved fun?

Did someone call for more BMEGirls?

Well if nobody did, too bad, you’re getting more anyway!  This time we’ve got two beautiful BMEGirls to close out the week.

First up is Shanna, who we first saw a couple of weeks ago.   This time around she’s showing off her kitty, as well as giving us another great look at her tattoos and piercings.

Next up is a photo sent in by justaburde, crediting Kevin Kusulas as the artist for what I’m assuming is the shoulder tattoos.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Even though the real Thanksgiving was last month, it is the big day in the States, with the football, the parades, and the food.  Oh yes.  The food.  Now whether you’re eating turkey, turducken, turturkeykey, tofurkey, or some other variation, if you’re sitting down with loved ones for a feast you can pretty much expect a food coma later on today.  Of course the holiday isn’t just about food.  It’s an interesting holiday as it means so many different things to many different people.  To some it is viewed in the traditional sense, with the celebration of the harvest, and the coming of winter.  To others it is a day much like Remembrance day where thanks is given to the women and men who dedicate their lives to protecting others.  And for some, it’s a day to enjoy with family and loved ones.  No matter what your reasons for celebrating today are, enjoy yourselves, and if you are out partying late into the evening, remember to be responsible.

Now I tried to find some kind of Thanksgiving related tattoo, but unfortunately turkey tattoos aren’t as popular as one would believe.  In all seriousness, BME is thankful for all of its wonderful members who continue to submit their photographs, stories, and videos to share with the community.

For example, we’re thankful that Sonja from Punktum Tattoo in Germany continues to send in such beautiful geometric designs.

So what are you thankful for today?

Smile with your eyes

So if you’ve ever sat through an episode of America’s Next Top Model, then you’ve probably heard the phrase “Smile with your eyes”.  According to Tyra, it’s a difficult thing for a model to master, and it is an invaluable tool for their careers.  Of course sometimes you don’t have to work to master it at all.  Take a look at Shanna here, she’s just naturally pretty, and her eyes are sparkling with a smile.  The fact that she has a lot of well done piercings and several tattoos doesn’t hurt either.

Her piercings and neck tattoos were done by Jeff from Heebee Jeebees, and her chest piece was done by Emily from To The Grave, both located in Colorado Springs.

Flowers for those who want to see them

Happy weekend ModBloggers!  Though I’ve been having a hard time seeing lately, I came across this beautifully bold and colourful piece while moderating BME photo submissions and thought I’d share it with all of you.

The work is by Graham Bradford of Pain and Wonder in Athens, GA.  The delighted wearer is Olive81, who started this piece as a cover-up and had the following to say:

“I am a plant biologist so I decided to not only cover up the flames, but to get an floral leg piece that covers that bottom portion of my right leg. It consists of a protea flower and poppy flowers, buds and fruit…”

These photos were taken after the 3rd sitting and the piece will likely take another three before completion. I don’t know about you but I’m a big fan of floral tattoos and I love the way this tattoo pops.

Have a fun and safe weekend everyone!

The Owl and the Dragonfly

It’s time for yet another fantastic piece by Michael from Kipod Tattoo Studio in Tel Aviv.  The first image is just a small part of a much larger piece that combines so many different elements.

owl

While I’ve never seen a 3-eyed horned owl before, I imagine it would probably look something like that.  Keep reading to see where the dragonflies come into play.

Moving around the leg, you can see the dragonflies coming into play, as well as a glimpse of the skull the owl is resting on.

To see the rest of the piece, head on over to the Kipod tattoo portfolio, you won’t be disappointed.
