Tickling the Ivories

Lower back tattoos have a bad rap. It’s a great piece of real estate that unfortunately gets covered all too often with poorly done work.  Thankfully we have artists like Kerri Kiple who are taking the lower back..  back.  No longer will tribal butterflies be the sole resident of this space.  From now on pieces such as this grand piano will take their place, and the world will be a better place for it.

Back to Black

I love you much
It’s not enough
You love blow and I love puff
And life is like a pipe
And I’m a tiny penny rolling up the walls inside

We only said goodbye with words
I died a hundred times
You go back to her
And I go back to black

-Amy Winehouse – “Back to Black”

It was only a matter of time before an Amy Winehouse tattoo appeared here after she passed away a few months ago.  I can’t say I’ve heard this particular song but whoever those legs belong to must have been a fan.

This tattoo is by Lou Shaw from Murray Bridge Tattoo and Body Piercing in Murray Bridge, South Australia.

What’s cracking?

To start today off we’ve got a tattoo sent in by Sadiesue.  This Darc Clements design is a compilation of symbols that Sadiesue finds meaningful.  I get the impression she’s a big fan of music and snow (hopefully not the musician “Snow”) based off some of the elements in the design.

Darc Clements works at Custom Art Gallery in Elkhart, IN.
