Flower Power
Jesse Villemaire and Wayde Dunn put their metal to the petal at the 2006 Scar Wars event to design/slash this collaborative lotus skin removal and scarification piece on Candice.

Denny’s Removal and 3D-Scales
So I wasn’t sure where they were going with it originally, but now that I see more of the scaled scarification posted last month, it seems they’re doing a “ripped out” design in scarification. In five years, this may end up as a super-nice combination tattoo and scar piece? I’m looking forward to watching it grow.
Victorian-style Filigree Collaboration Cutting
Wayde Dunn (waydedunn.com), one of the most talented scarification artists out there, is visiting the US right now and is guest spotting with Ron Garza (rongarza.com) in Los Angeles until the end of the month (as in the end of April 2007), with whom he did this collaboration cutting, a pair of Victorian style filigree cuttings are on iam:xoTeresaxo — she’s standing in front of a mirror so you can see both the left and right side. This is the third large piece he’s done in LA so far (if you’re interested in work by either him or Ron, or both, you can contact them on IAM or via their websites).
It’s really quite thrilling to see how evolved scarification is becoming as an artform. Remember to set your calendars — Scar Wars III is being held in October 2007.
Ganesh Scarification
This Ganesha with lotus flowers cutting (I just love the placement and how it’s spread across the arm!) was done by Christiane at Pinpoint Piercing in Oslo, Norway.
Healing Skin Removal
Animal Cuts
Amanda who lives just down the street from me has a couple wildlife-themed cuttings done by Blair (byblair.com) in Toronto. This tiger is about three months old in the photo:
Her elephant lower backpiece was done about a year ago.
Grasshopper Sex Scars
John Joyce (Scarab) did the original grasshopper scar at the Scar Wars convention (more pictures), and has now added a second massive skin-removal grasshopper to the first one.
Jesus Christ Scarification
Ryan Corrigal, cutting at Strange City in Edmonton, Alberta did this great cutting on Matt. Brian has been out there cutting as well, so expect a few more posts of what they’ve been doing soon.
Gorgeous DIY Fetus Scarification
Jason Rice (apprenticing under Andrew Niland at Live Once Tattoo in North Bay, Ontario) just did this really pretty fetal cutting on himself. I know it’s not an option for everyone, but I really feel like the heart of body modification — the evolve yourself meme — is in DIY procedures, be it DIY at home, or guided DIY in an apprenticeship.
