GOD HATES US ALL

That’s for sure. Read the Bible if you don’t believe SLAYER — you’ll see that human history contains no cruelty and evil as great as that allegedly perputrated by God and his various avatars and representatives. This great cutting was done by Andre Fernandes at Tattoo You in Sao Paulo, Brasil.

Anyway… Small update here for you today, but I’ll be posting over 4000 images to BME later today as well (c/o Phil), and of course videos as well (c/o Roo)… And I’m working on a BMEboys day for either the weekend or the start of the week. Enjoy!

Chemical Scarification

Probably the rarest form of scarification, chemical scarification (like in Fight Club), is something that I hardly ever get to see… These are self-done by Zav in Bendigo, Australia, using masking tape to mark off and isolate the area. Four layers of paint strippers were used to eat away the skin, waiting about fifteen minutes between each application. A bit of skin would peel off with no bleeding. Pain was minimal at first but became more painful in later applications. A leathery scab (which Zav describes as similar to dried rabit skin) formed, and in the oldest photo it’s at 25 days (so I suppose this is one of the more successful scarifications of this type that I’ve seen).

Koi Cutting

Well, since IAM is all messed up (I’m going down to see what’s up in about two and a half hours — sorry I can’t go sooner — I think that the SATA-II RAID card has failed personally), I figure I ought to post a few entries here for you.

Cutting with skin removal and texturing done over a four hour sitting by Brian of Pure Body Arts in Brooklyn, NY.

When scarification goes bad

Update: First, the person in this procedure healed fine and is very happy. Second, I want to make it clear that while this procedure looks very intense, it’s probably less intense as a procedure than some large skin removal work, transscrotal piercings, implants, tongue splitting, and all the other procedures generally accepted by the body modification community.

Ok, this is a pretty gory entry. I apologize for that. But I think it’s important to emphasize that when you do large scale scarification (or sometimes small scale), sometimes the keloid grows out of control and starts getting very uncomfortable, restricting mobility, and so on. This piece was only about a month old in the photos below (it was done by a “well known body modification artist” who’s gonna stay unnamed because that’s not the point of the entry) and the customer was quite unhappy and wanted it dealt with.

Samppa Von Cyborg and Lukas Zpira got together to help him as much as they could. They felt that all of it was cut too deep, and did their best to excise the tissue, although the centre keloid was not removed (I’m assuming it was adhered right to the cartilage at bottom of the sternum). Starting with some exploratory cuts:

Mostly off and looking very gory:

As you can see, quite a chasm of tissue was removed! Check out the fatty tissue below:

Once stitched up, I can’t imagine how relived and happy the customer must have been. It’s a pretty intense removal, and a lot to go through, but Lukas and Samppa did a nice job restoring him… Hopefully the removal doesn’t have similar keloiding issues (sometimes it’s a problem that snowballs).

Finally, the gross out shot of the removed tissue:

Please take scarification seriously!!!

Flayed Legs

I like this very pretty cutting by Cali at Twisted Sol in Denver, Colorado. Anyway, I want to spend the next few days working more on finally assembling the text for the long overdue follow-up to the ModCon book (working title: “Because It Felt Good.”), so I might not post that much if at all. I’ll post a few more today still, and BME will be updated of course.
