Stunning fashion photo of Teya Salat of St. Petersburg, Russia and her incredible throat and collar tattoo that really brings out that “Madonna with the Long Neck” beauty. Just a sensation photo merging a very bold and over-the-top tattoo with traditional beauty that people would swoon over no matter the cultural bias or point in history.

Bronze Age Ragnarok
Following up on some of the great work from Peter Madsen at Meatshop (meatshoptattoo.com) has done that Rob’s posted here in the past, I wanted to point out this gem recently added to his portfolio. It is based on the Ragnarok saga, so the two ships are Naglfar and Skibladner, and of course that’s Yggdrasil (the tree of life) in the centre, with the whole thing being done in a Bronze-age style (even though, as Peter points out, the myth is not from the Bronze age, but it’s what the client wanted). This is one of those tattoos that makes a person look like the university professor you wish you had, or otherwise hip-academic when they disrobe at the beach.
I don’t know about you, but I’m not a victim!
I hate seeing garbage like this flying around on Facebook and Tumblr and so on. There are various variations on it, posting some plainskin trainwreck, and a gorgeous tattooed person, and making a similar comment implying that the tattooed supermodel is an outcast while the orange duckfaced troll is Ms. Popular. I don’t know what crazy country the original poster lives in, but I think if you asked people, 95% would tell you that the person on the left looks horrible and make fun of them. Whereas the tattooed woman is obviously traditionally beautiful, and 95% of people would not “consider them dirt”. Tattoos are ubiquitous, and widely considered attractive when done well, especially on an already conventionally attractive person.
Pictures like this make us look like whiners. Do we really want people to think we have a victim complex? I don’t know about you, but I’m not a victim! If you see things like this, please, do not “like” it. Do not “share” it. Do not perpetuate the myth that tattoos are great way to wreck your life.
And of course that completely ignores the other issue, that of making fun of someone else’s aesthetic decisions now they we are in a position of social power and they are the ones that everyone is pointing at and laughing at…
New sleeves by Freak Mike
Before I head down to the swimming pool with my daughter, let me quickly post a couple of new sleeves by Freak Mike, who you know from the now-closed Swastika-Freakshop and is now working in a small private gallery with his mentor Marc. Together they are pushing the artform forward with bold and aesthetically challenging and striking creations, and you can bet you’ll see more of them here in the future (as you have in the past since I first met them in the early days of ModBlog).
If you didn’t already notice by the way, much of I post can be clicked and zoomed into.
Days of our lives
Which way to the beach?
Heads will definitely turn when fl0w hits the beaches of Estonia this summer. And for those of us who can’t be there in person, at least we have the pictures.
Tattoo credit goes to Roland Paabo from Auriga in Tallinn, Estonia.
Don’t go chasing waterfalls
Jackie Rabbit credits BME for this waterfall. A couple drove down to Star City Tattoo in Roanoke, VA on their vacation because they had seen Jackie’s work here before, and wanted to get some work done.
Remember, tattoo artists, body modification artists, piercers, and suspension teams are eligible to have a dedicated portfolio gallery. Simply upload your photos and then send a message to [email protected] to get the gallery set up.
Lady in Black
Can you believe it’s been over a week since the last BMEGirl post? Thankfully Rachie here can rectify that.

Is it Monday already?
I’m back! After a much needed vacation, I’m nice and rested and ready to get you back to your regularly scheduled ModBlog. A big thanks to Sean for covering for me. As well as a thanks to the other guest columnists, INKStar and Shannon. Hopefully we’ll be hearing from both of them again soon.
So while I may be rested, I’m pretty sure there are some people out there that are looking a little like this tattoo when they wake up on a Monday morning.

One of our own releases a new music video!
While I was more active posting on Modblog one thing I tried to get rolling was a “Modblog Music” feature, where I showcased musicians who were also heavily involved in the body modification world. The two vastly different creative outlets seem to go hand in hand quite often, so why not focus on those who are active with both?
My buddy, Cheyne is a good example of that. He has pretty much a full body suit of disgustingly amazing tattoos and he also makes his living doing body piercings at Jinx Proof Tattoo in Washington, DC. He also happens to be an up and coming rapper with some extremely well put together tracks and videos.
Check out his newest music video here and if you like his stuff, you can find more of it on his facebook page.
