Bariloche Travel Photos

When I got these pictures from hETA* in Argentina, they were not initially labeled with a location so I wasn’t a hundred percent sure where they were from. I actually thought they might have been taken in Western Canada. Turns out they’re from Bariloche, a beautiful part of Patagonia… I keep meaning to go down to the Patagonia Tattoo Convention, but haven’t made it yet…

Glowing Nuts

I know it’s kind of a “stupid human trick”, but one of the fun things about saline inflation (where you inflate the scrotum or other body part with injected sterile saline solution — don’t try this with water or it will hurt, and of course non-sterile solutions can kill you) is being able to turn it into a glowing orb with a flashlight. If you want a before photo, just click the after one below.

“Franky’s Dream”

I really, really, really loved these photos from my friends at Andromak P4 in Paris, France.

Franky, currently thirty seven years old, suffers from a form of myopathy (a muscular disorder; there’s nothing wrong with his mind) and lives at an institution in France. One of his dreams was to get tattooed. Almost everyone at the hospital was opposed to it, but Andromak P4 felt she understood his feelings, and that he had as much right as anyone else to fulfill this dream. The tattoo is now done and the dream is close to fulfilled — in a few weeks she will return and fill in the color.

Anyway, I just thought this was super cool, and hats off to the hospital staff and administration for allowing it to go forward.

Intense Facial Work

While I’d say that the facial modifications in the previous entry are bold, I’d argue that for plainskins that aren’t fundamentally bigots that it’s still fundamentally attractive on a conventional level. Magneto, a customer of mod artist Oscar Navarro‘s at VOID in Barcelona, Spain, is definitely pushing that border a lot harder and a lot more unconventionally — those implanted eyebrow ridges are intense, to say nothing of the tattoo work he’s having done!

Lil’ Bro

People always seem to like when I post pictures of modified folk and kids, so here’s Wild Skin from Buenos Aires, Argentina with his little brother. Part of me thinks the reason people like these pictures so much is that a lot of us have experienced serious damage and trauma to our family lives due to our body modification decisions, so we feel really happy to see families that prosper nonetheless?

No more hammerhead!

Simon didn’t really like the “hammerhead” nipple he’d gotten after having his nipple pierced (this is not uncommon!)… So he put a 2mm o-ring over the nipple and left it on for about four hours, applying ice periodically to ease the pain. He didn’t have a scalpel (hello, BMEshop), so with the aid of a blade, off it came! Looks like it turned out for the best.

Oh, and for BME/extreme members, the nipple removal section is here.
