Never Say Never

When I started piercing, I would often make definitive  statements such as “that will NEVER heal” referring to certain piercings or tattoos. Like the lady who had a cbr pierced right in her forehead that I met at a tattoo convention. It wanted to stick out, so she had glued the bead of it to her forehead with super glue………….The next year, I saw her and holy monkey turds Batman it had healed perfectly!

I have seen countless examples of ridiculous things heal since then, so now I tend to use phrases like “that has ALMOST no chance of healing”, because I have seen the “impossible” prove to be possible many, many times now.

When I first posted this tattoo last June, lot’s of commenters said it would NEVER heal. Well here it is,  several months later and while it has faded a bit, I would still consider it a huge success as far as palm tattoos go.

Tie-dyed

With Christmas only a few weeks away, it’s time to start thinking of gifts for your loved ones.  Now when it comes to buying a gift for people, sometimes you can get stumped for ideas.  When that happens, most people just get something that doesn’t require much thought, like a gift card.  If a gift card isn’t your thing, you could always go simple and get your loved one a tie.  Even if they don’t wear a tie every day to work, there is bound to be some kind of occasion that necessitates wearing a tie, so giving one as a gift is always a safe bet.  The only way getting someone a tie could possibly go wrong is if they’re someone who found a way to never need a new tie ever again.

So, any ideas on what to get this young man for the holidays?

As for the tattoo, Ross Lloyd from Genx Tattoo in Cleveland sent in the photo along with a number of other pictures of his work.  This one in particular came from the geek tattoo gallery.

Heart at work

It’s always interesting to see a master at work, and when that master is John Joyce, you can expect to see something fantastic.

Curious as to what John is cutting?  Keep on reading to find out.

Casey Nichols sent in these pictures of her BME Heart cutting, and the larger versions can be seen in the BME Logo Scarification gallery.  Also, if you’re interested in seeing more of John’s work, check out his own gallery.

Hopefully we get some pictures of the scar down the line for a Friday Follow-up post.

A Wild Snorlax Appears!

The Mayans might have predicted the end of the world happening in 2012, or some other year, but they weren’t too specific on how it will happen.  Who knew that thousands of years later IAM: Mattfante would be the one to predict exactly how it would happen; A giant Snorlax appears and devours the earth!

Snorlax!

Gary Bell from Liberty Tattoo and Art Parlor in Louisville, KY is the artist behind Snorlax, which came from the cartoon tattoo gallery.

Cellophane flowers of yellow and green

Picture yourself on a seat in a studio,
With tangerine inks and needles in your skin.
Somebody asks you, you answer quite proudly,
A girl with kaleidoscope eyes.

Chris Lowe from Naked Art Tattoo in Odenton, MD is responsible for this wonderful interpretation of the classic Beatles song that was sent in by Deus_ex_machina.

Lucy in the sky

Its an interesting mix of styles working in the piece.  You have the soft blending of colours for the girl and the tangerines, but the river, bridge and fountain take on the artistic style from the Sgt. Pepper era.  You can check out more of the details in the tangerines in the additional photos found in the music tattoo gallery.
