The Geeks Shall Inherit The N64!

So, as this is my last post (for the Canadian evening), I thought as a change of pace I’d treat you all to some geek influenced tattoos, and a scarification.. Another few hundred Kilobytes of photos are after the break!

First up is Matt and his “thumb of power” scarification that leaves motorists bewildered as to why they stopped to pick him up! By Wayde Dunn, Infinite Body Piercing, Philadelphia.

Next on the gurney is this super-vibrant “medical” tattoo on IAM: medic (surprise, surprise) and is by DeeDee Seruga, Requiem Body Art, Spring Hill, Florida.

These are my personal favourites! Clickthrough for larger images..

IAM: shadowsoldier, by various artists around Lansing and Kalamazoo, Michigan.

The penultimate tattoo in this entry is by an unknown artist (who was apparently bipedal through the entire sitting!) from Tiki Tattoo in Mesa, Arizona.

IAM: jessicamolko – “1.4% is the genetic difference between human and primate.

And finally (hope you’re not too geeked out because the second batch is going up tomorrow night!), it’s this charming gamer tattoo by Matt Griffith (2 Dollar Pistol Tattoo, Chillicothe, Ohio).

I’m planning to make tomorrow a BMEBoys day, the unfortunate truth is that boys don’t seem to submit as many photos as the girls. Judging by the above though you can’t blame computer games for that!

D to the M to the T.

You may remember IAM: madroota from such ModBlog posts as Awesome suspension themed hand tattoo and Empire Strikes Hack, well, he’s back with his next thrilling installment! (The text of which I stole from his IAM page, added links and edited slightly without asking).

DMT is a chemical that occurs in most plant life and traces are also found in the human body. It’s function is unknown within the human body, however the Shaman believe that at forty one weeks after conception the mother feeds pure DMT into her unborn child and this is the point where we obtain our “soul” and spirit. DMT can be extracted from certain varieties of plant such as Wattle and Acacia to become a yellowish-red crystal.

If smoked or snorted these crystals can be one of the most potent psychedelic hallucinogens around!

Many ancient tribes throughout history have used DMT for spiritual rituals and just good old recreational use. This being said I thought it would be good idea to let the infamous Wayde Dunn cut the DMT molecular structure into my torso. From under my armpit wrapping around to my belly. I have to say I am extremely happy with the outcome, and once again Wayde has proved that he is one of, if not the best cutter around! Although the over all design is relatively simple the numbers and letters seemed a little tricky due to their size but turned out perfectly! So thank you Wayde and thank you to who ever discovered the extraction process of DMT (Roo: Gonçalves de Lima).

That’s quite enough of that, back to the regular schedule!

The Floor Is Made Of Lava!

I must admit, I’ve been putting off posting these for a few days, only because I like feet and what happened to Marcus is spoiling it a little for me..

Read more to found out how they got in this state!

The best part was when they scrubbed my feet and legs with toothbrushes twice a day..

I had a house fire! A propane tank leaked while I was living in a small town in Alaska, we had no natural gas lines which is why we had the tank.. Propane is heavier than air and it pooled around my feet and when it caught that spark my side and arm and face got kissed, but my feets took the brunt..

Actually, I guess the best part was the painkillers!

My feet are okay now although my tattoos are covered by unnecessary skin grafts. I could have healed in the right environment but I was three thousand miles from home and most of my friends didn’t even have running water. I ended up in the hospital for about two weeks, they did the skin grafts to speed up the healing and get my uninsured ass out into the real world. I was hobbling around on crutches at the bar a month later, munching pain pills, throwing up in trash cans, and hitting on old hot blondes!

Poor lad.

Life Changing

My friend Ferg sent me some incredible photos of a ceremony he recently took part in, read more for some amazing photos and his story. More to come soon!

I was the main participant this weekend in a male initiation ceremony at one of the nearby outstations that involved horizontal chest cutting done with a sharp (although could have been sharper and less serrated thank you very much) stone. We all danced the night before, slept, got up at sunrise, were painted, danced all along the beach to the men’s business area where I was laid down and sliced open. I was told (translated from Yolgnu Matha) the things that a man has to do from now on and after a final dance with my immediate Aboriginal family members it was off home for a well deserved hot bath.

The History Channel were there filming for three days, and the five and a half hours of footage they got will have to be condensed into about fifteen minutes for a one hour show they’re doing about traditional ceremonies around the world.

The local people have completely blown me away with their enthusiasm and energy and of course for giving me the opportunity to actually go through a traditional and authentic ritual. The younger generation got the chance to learn a bit more about a ceremony that is not being practised as much as it used to be and I got to develop a whole new level of respect and gratitude for the people I work and live with.

This has been life changing, and I’m completely serious when I say that. I’m humbled beyond words to have been able to do this and my lifetime gratitude goes to the Aboriginal people of NE Arnhem Land for organising this cultural exchange for us both and allowing me to step into their world. Their generosity has been amazing.

Ferg.
