I imagine the this scarification by Steve Truitt at Stay Gold Tattoo & Body Modification and Ascension Studios in Albuquerque, NM must be just amazing from a tactile point of view… I have a series of branded stripes up my torso, but these are much nicer!

Viva La France!
Beautiful Fleur de Lis scarification (double lined with skin removal) by Juan Manuel Burgos at Face Tattoo in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Daaaaay-um.
That’s gotta hurt, tan0k. By Peta at Angel in Moscow, Russia. Goddamn do I feel like I’m less the barbarian I’m genitally destined to be every time I meet a Russian. Hardcore.
Stomach Scars
There’s something about chaos stranded on a smooth surface that I just love about randomly violent scars on smooth skin. Really beautiful. Thanks to midiwife from Brighton, England for this photo. Oh, and that sweater is crazy. Kids these days…
Chest Skull Cutting
Work by Ryan Corrigal in Edmonton, Alberta. This is the second piece they’ve cut on Justin.
Money Money Money Money Keloid
Check out this well keloided scarification by Urea, Joao Pessoa, PB Brazil.
“Peace, Love, and Happiness”
What, “Peace, Love, and Happiness” aren’t what come to mind when you think of rending flesh from body, of scarification? Well, then you haven’t met Jezebel, or JesseV from Thrive Studios (why yes, you can buy a Thrive Studios t-shirt) in Cambridge, ON, Canada.
High detail circus elephant scarification
I’m still not convinced that these are going to look as good in the long term (say five years or more) without tattooed touchups, but as I’ve said over and over, there is probably no artist working in scarification today that is as good at this style as Dave Gillstrap. He is both the originator of this style and its leading artist.
Other work by Dave featured on ModBlog you may want to check out (and this isn’t all of it, plus he has a portfolio on BME):
Matching Facial Scarification?
I don’t know if we’ll ever move back to a society where family markings are in the flesh, and I’m also not sure that it’s a good idea (but I’m a sucker for independence and consensuality). Anyway, for now we’ll stick to the adults, with kids imitating in temporary ways I think.
Scar Brace Piercing
The wearer of these piercings would like me to point out that the scars are not cutting or self harm, but are in fact zombie bite marks, and this is his attempt to turn it into something more decorative.
Enjoy the thirteen posts for the day. I think I’m going to take the weekend off now. You may however see a little guest blogging from Ryan at BMEshop (and I’m consdering adding other guest bloggers — if you think you have what it takes and have an existing body modification themed blog that you’d like to mate with ModBlog, drop me a line).
