Kipod Tattoo pt.4

Today we’re going to be taking a look at the works of Michael Kozlenko, one of the many talented artists from Kipod Tattoo and Piercing in Tel Aviv.  We’ve featured works from Michael before, as well as other artists from Kipod.  Over the course of today you’ll be able to see a small preview of some of the many works that can be found in the Kipod Tattoo Portfolio.

In the final post of today’s artist profile, we’ll take a look at one of Michael’s non-portrait works.

Like the rest of today’s images, Michael sent in multiple pictures, highlighting each element of the tattoo.  By heading over to the Kipod gallery, you can see all of the smaller details in this piece.

BMEGirls love summer

Science has proven it time and time again that when it gets hot outside, BMEGirls will shed their clothing and take pictures.  Now for Iowa native TooGhoulForSchool, summer gives her a chance to stretch out on a hammock and soak up the sun.

Hmm.  Looks like the picture didn’t load fully.  Let me try again after the clickthrough.

That’s better.

Photo credit goes to Swanson Studios, while tattoo credit belongs to Jason Evans from Neon Dragon in Hiawatha, IA

She moves in mysterious ways

A little dash of mystery is a nice way to kick of the last day of ModBlog for the year.  Come Friday all the BME staff are going to be at BMEHQ for the BME New Year’s Eve Party.  You’re all invited, so if you haven’t made plans yet, check out the event page for all the details.

As for the mystery woman, all I can tell you is that Daniel from Brightmoor in Columbia, TN did her tattoos.

The Cover-up

The interesting thing about tattoo cover-ups is how the artist chooses to use the space that is being covered.  It also depends on what the client wants as well.  Ideally the end result will be that the original tattoo is no longer visible, and for the most part that happens.  But what about that transition period?  The time when the cover-up starts, to when it is finished.  For large pieces with multiple sessions, this period could last weeks, if not months.  While this is going on something unique is formed, a blending of the two tattoos, where the old and new combine to make something uniquely beautiful.

An perfect example of this beauty is Siren’s chest piece.  With just the black outline and some shading done on the new skull tattoo, the bright colors of the old can be seen through the lines, resulting in a stunning image of a piece of art in transition.

Alas, poor Yorick!

When I first saw this photo, sent in by Eiji, my first reaction was WOW. I love how the yellow in the spiders pops against the muted gray of the skull. This tattoo really grabs your attention! Unfortunately I don’t know who the artist is that did it but I have to say, hats off to them. From what I gather, Eiji is a Japanese tattoo artist with incredible talent. The shading in the skull is beautiful as well. It almost looks like a graphite drawing.

The Devil is in the Details

Fans of Brom will instantly recognize his style in this backpiece.  Brom’s the guy behind a lot of the art in role-playing games, fantasy novels, etc.  The lovely clockorange from Moscow, and her artist Sergey Voynov from Extreme Art in St. Petersburg, are big fans of Brom, and it shows.  The detail that Sergey put into this is masterful, which makes for a truly spectacular piece.

The Metal Mulisha

For those who don’t watch the X-Games, or follow motocross at all, then you probably have never heard of The Metal Mulisha.  For everyone else, they know that the Mulisha is a team of riders who enjoy pushing the limits of their respective sports.  By pushing said limits they’ve garnered a huge fan base, and make money hand over fist by selling their merchandise.

A number of parallels can be drawn between members of the Metal Mulisha and members of the BME community.  While they do what they can to push themselves to the limit of their respective sports for personal satisfaction, modified people also push their bodies to extremes in order to fulfill their needs for personal satisfaction.

Now fans of the Mulisha will tell you that just strapping on a helmet and hopping on a bike is only part of the lifestyle.  The members of the Mulisha all are world renown athletes, with world records and countless medals spread amongst them.  To the fans, these guys are the best of the best, and will go out of their way to support them.

Take for example a recent client of Jamie Henderson from Forsaken Ink in Bloomburg, NY.  He wanted to get the Metal Mulisha skull logo, and Jamie certainly didn’t disappoint.
