When I posted the Y-incision scar last spring it made quite an impression on people — it’s healed very nicely, with a nice solid raised keloid along most of its length. It was done on Singer by Brian of Pure Body Arts in Brooklyn, NY.

Anchors Away!
I suppose it’s inevitable now that people have been installing dermal anchors in huge numbers for a year or two that I’ve started to see a flood of somewhat gory removal and rejecting photos… That said, as unpleasant as these particular pictures left, the scars are extremely minor.
Top right rejection – Kate.
An assortment of food-themed tattoos
I’ve been seeing tons of tattoos about food lately, and I was thinking that as the iceman got tattoos of the beasts he hunted and ate, so does modern man get tattoos of the feasts he “hunts” and eats — the original spirit of tattooing flows through these pieces? Haha, probably not. There are more after the break from the last few updates and of course tons in the BME galleries — let me start though with a “Sacred Reuben”, tattooed by Erik Russel of 4182 Tattoo in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
Also “sacred”, bbirdeman‘s “Sacred Moonpie” neck tattoo by James Jorgenson of Bay Area Tattoo in Houston, Texas.
Fetusinajar has a “church of pork” tattoo done by Bonnie Lou in Rockford, IL, claiming, “porkie goodness gets all the girls wet!” Well, greasy at least.
I have no explanation for this blazing McDonalds cup, done by Gabriel “Gabby” Moore at Marked 4 Life in York, PA.
Sublimeatl got a funny “NO GU LIKE FUGU” tattoo by Loke at Holy Mother Tattoo in Atlanta, Georgia.
Staying in the fish theme for a moment, this great sushi boat tattoo was done by Isaac Davis of Aces High Custom Tattooing in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Stalktheground sends in this “Strogie Bogie” cooker by Skip Cisto at Standard Ink in Chattanooga, TN.
Finally, in the political food arena, Veggie_Powered has this steak and cross bones hand tattoo by Chris Moody at Barrett All Tattoo & Body Piercing in Endicott, NY.
“Russian Criminal Tattoos”
EnglishRussia, which previously brought us the bizarro entry on a very odd tattooed bodybuilder, today posted an entry with a large series of portraits of tattooed criminals (I’m not sure where webpark.ru plagiarized this from; if someone knows the real source, please feel free to post it). Click through for the whole set.
A New Knuckle Profile
Continuing in Barcelona, Silas‘s implants, a set of three matching beads — sure to mess with any chiropractor that sits across from him on the bus — were done by Oscar Navarro of Void.
Gunslinger Concept Tattoo
I like Mr_Hyde gunslinger concept piece, done by Jordi Del Rey at Kei 13 in Sant Boi, Barcelona, Spain. Click through for his genital implants as well.
Advice from your mother
With apologies to the submitter for posting this in this context, but one of the biggest reasons that piercings (and mods in general) go wrong is that people don’t take proper care of their bodies. Most body modifications are in effect asking your body to heal a wound “open”, which it’s definitely not evolved to do, so it’s important that you give it the best possible chances to do so by adhering to general standards of cleanliness.
As the person who processes the photos and has to look at everything in detail, ear washing is also appreciated for that reason.
Scissors Tattoo/Anchor Combo
Personally I’m not usually a fan of tattoo/piercing combinations most of the time — I think they tend to have a largely unintended air of silliness about them, to say nothing of the eventual scar and touch-up issue — but I really like this one, done by Lexci Million at Shambhala Tattoos using a 3mm Anatometal bezel set end. It looked a little too good to be true (most combos are an afterthought), and she confirms, saying,
“[The customer] got the tattoo as a combo piece. She booked her tattoo appointment and then came back for the anchor a couple weeks later, as soon as her tattoo was healed up. Luckily she doesn’t wear jeans so there’s no impact on the anchor in an otherwise high-impact area.”
Hey, wait a minute Lexci… Isn’t she wearing jeans in the photo? 😛
Eric’s Chestpiece
A BME/Boys entry for a change? Second photo of Eric’s work follows after the break — tattoos by Divine Machine Tattoo in Buffalo, NY.
Traditional “Play” Piercing
Ritual, not play, as photographed by Arco at last October’s vegetarian rituals in Phuket, Thailand. Lots more photos from him and others in the cultural rituals gallery on BME.
