Ear pointing redux

To some, getting their ears pointed is one of the last steps they can take with their upper ear.  Well Zephyr*Elf here has shown us that not only was she not finished with her ear pointing, she also intended to get them pointed a second time.  Back in July she had the opportunity to meet up with Efix Roy and have her ears pointed for the second time.  The initial pointing was done by Lukas Zpira, who did a fantastic job, but for the look Zephyr was going for a second pointing was necessary, as you can see by just how pointed the end result is.  In addition to the second pointing, he also scalpeled her lobes, with her 20mm lobe going to 1 inch, and her reconstructed lobe being reopened to 10mm.  So, now that a few months have passed, you can see just how well everything healed up.

If you want to see photos of the ears just after the procedure, you can find them on her IAM page.

Still Beautiful

You may have noticed that this day has been chock full of BMEBoys and Girls, and with good reason.  They’ve all submitted pics in the past week.  For the most part, the pictures that are posted on ModBlog come directly from the BME Galleries, which means it’s up to you, the readers, to send in the photos that you want to see.  Uploading photos to BME is really easy too.  Just log in to your BME account, go to your profile page, click on “Media“, and then click on Add New: Photos on the right side of the screen.  From there you just upload your photos.  Of course you can also upload videos and stories as well.  And that’s it.  Once the photos go through the queue they’re up on BME for everyone to see, and from there can be posted on ModBlog.  You don’t even need a paid subscription to send in photos, just sign up for a free account to be able to send them in.

Now, all that said, I’d like you to meet StillyoungStillbrainless. She sent in this photo of herself, taken by Shelby Hale.  With all the attractive people posted today, you can easily see why I saved her for last: she’s a beautiful girl, in a beautiful photo.

What a great way to end an already great day.

Did someone call for more BMEGirls?

Well if nobody did, too bad, you’re getting more anyway!  This time we’ve got two beautiful BMEGirls to close out the week.

First up is Shanna, who we first saw a couple of weeks ago.   This time around she’s showing off her kitty, as well as giving us another great look at her tattoos and piercings.

Next up is a photo sent in by justaburde, crediting Kevin Kusulas as the artist for what I’m assuming is the shoulder tattoos.

Zombie, Bloody Zombie

Two blood posts back to back?  Sure!  Although seeing as how this is a Halloween related post the blood probably isn’t real.  Right?

IAM:Valoren sent in these pictures over the weekend when her zombified self had a little fun with some play piercings.

Even after watching the gloriousness that was The Walking Dead premiere, I’d still have a hard time putting a bullet in the head of this zombie.

Just.. wow..

Damn you anonymous uploaders!  Remember to fill in the information when you send in your pictures.  That way when they’re posted everyone can know who is in the picture.  And I’m pretty sure a lot of people will want to know who this picture is of that popped up in the lips and rings labrets gallery.

I'll be in my bunk

Update:  The model’s name is Leandra, and this was sent in by her piercer, Chris Saint.

Hold that thought

The last time a lip corset was shown on ModBlog was back in 2007.  There may have been one since then, and I’m sure if there has someone will find it, but it definitely seems to be a rare type of corsetry.  BME user DivaPayyne sent in this image of her lip corset recently.  Stylistically, the pink ribbon combined with the pink hair gives her an almost doll-like quality.

lips

The different types of interpretations that a lip corset can bring about are interesting.  Historically, the corset was used by women to force their bodies into a desired shape in order to satisfy the societal demands that were imposed on them.  Nowadays corsets are used for a variety of different uses, some stylistically, some for fetishists, others for practical use, and so on.  When it comes to corset piercings, the aesthetic of the corset is combined with the classical usage of a corset.  The idea of binding.  Now of course this doesn’t apply to all corset piercings, but there are some that do emphasize the constricting nature of a corset.  When this is applied to the lips, you get a sense that the woman’s lips are binded in a way to prevent her from speaking out past what is expected of her.

One of the most important aspects of a corset piercings is the process, putting in the piercings, stringing them together, and the eventual release and removal of the corset.  So while from an outsiders point of view we see the mid point of the process, the corset in place, for the people getting them it is much more than that.  Looking back on this individual image, DivaPayyne’s lips are bound together, but at some point, with the tug of a string, she will be free of her bindings and able to speak again.

As always you can check out more corset piercings in the corset gallery, where in addition to this particular lip corset, there are a great deal more images that show just how creative people can be when it comes to creating a corset.

Sometimes bigger is better

IAM:Twosteps sent in this shot of himself the other day, and unless I’m missing something it looks like he’s managed to stretch all of his piercings above the neck.

twosteps

I know that the concept of “bigger is better” has been discussed on ModBlog recently, but in the case of Twosteps here, he shows off that for him, bigger is definitely better.  When it comes to stretching out any piercing, there’s a degree of commitment made towards an eventual goal.  I use the term commitment because the act of stretching is a long and involved process.  Of course it can be sped up at points with the assistance of a skilled practitioner, but over time there is only so much outside assistance one can get.  In the end it takes both mental and physical commitment to the goal for it to be realized.  So in addition to the time it takes to stretch something out, there is also the need for patience, because we all know what can happen if a stretching is rushed.

Thankfully for Twosteps here, it looks like everything is going well on his part.  I don’t know if he’s done with everything or not, but the matching jewelry, combined with the placementof the piercings, really make the big piercings look great on him.

Hush

I try to post a variety of images every day to ModBlog.  And with every image I post, I try my best to make a story around it.  I see a tattoo of Prince’s love symbol, and I think of both the artist and the dedication of his fans.  I see a candid image from a pulling performance, and think of the outer expressions of inner pain.

Then I see an image like this…

hush

…and I’m at a loss for words.

Which of course got me to thinking, what is it about certain images and action that can take our breath away.  To render even the most expressive of us speechless.  Is it some base instinct that we have, like the fight or flight reactions, that when we are emotionally overwhelmed we react by silencing ourselves?  Or is it a cultural phenomenon, where we’ve been raised in a world where the effects of the Romantic period have permeated our collective consciousness.  The moment where our minds are presented with an overwhelming amount of emotional stimulation causes us to take pause and reflect on the images before we are able to express ourselves and our reactions.

Now that I’ve had a moment to reflect on the image, I think that it conveys exactly what I was just talking about.  We have this woman looking outwards her lips bound by a black ribbon woven through her piercings.  You see through her eyes that she has something to say, but for the moment she cannot speak.  It is only when the ribbon is removed, can she express herself fully.  So we too, in those moments when everything falls away and we get lost in the image, have our lips bound, not by ribbon, but by our own minds.  We pause, holding everything in until the right moment, when we can remove our own ribbons and are free to speak again.

I want to thank BMEzine.com member Scissor_Kitty for submitting this image to the piercing galleries.  So while you may not like every image in the galleries, there are certainly enough images in there that can take your breath away, simply through the story the image is telling.
