60 Meter Swedish Crane Suspension Video

IAM: Bena sent me the link to this clip on Expressen TV. Their site is so bad I’ve added a copy of the video here for you to see.  Lex from Federal Body Piercing facilitated the suspension. The suspendee is Tommie who is 35 years old, married and the father of two daughters who live a “normal life” according to the narrator. He was suspended 60 meters (approximately 196 feet) into the air.

One thing to note which could be easily missed is that Tommie is wearing a safety harness underneath his shorts.

I want to be the bad guy.

I spoke with Emilio about his most recent facial sculpting endeavor. It’s reminiscent of the work Steve Haworth performed on The Stalking Cat in 2001. While Cat’s procedure was more of a septum relocation/removal, Cain’s procedure includes significant removal of his nostrils and his septum. Look for more photos in the next BME update and hopefully I’ll post some healed photos once they’re submitted.

Says Emilio (edited for clarity):

My friend Cain from Bogota, Colombia, was waiting a long time to modify his physical appearance. So last year, I took a trip to Bogota and saw, when I met Cain, he had a very hard, rough appearance; even with no modifications, he impressed me. He told me he wanted to look more evil, you know, like the devil itself, and to pay tribute to the name Cain.

I started by giving him silicone horns, and had to take a few trips there for make them bigger — our goal is 2-inch horns, and to eventually add another set of 1.5-inch horns, manufactured by Steve Haworth. Cain was really happy with the work I did and wanted to go to the next step: making his nose like the bad guy from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Lord Voldemort, but with a very personal touch.

When I came home to Caracas, my big friend Cesar Gonzalez (a plastic surgeon, specialized in nose reconstruction) and I had a very long conversation about Cain’s situation. When I went back to Colombia for a tattoo convention, I did the procedure on him — he was more than pleased, and very soon you will see the result. I want to give thanks to BME, and a special thanks to Lukas Zpira for helping me a long time ago to make my first step into the modification world.

As indicated by Emilio, only a trained professional should attempt this procedure and even then, there are serious risks to consider as it is definitely an advanced body modification! Don’t try this at home!

Facebook blocks BME

Earlier today I attempted to post to the BME group on Facebook. I generally share links to BME articles on both Myspace and Facebook. At first I was getting “no title” errors. I then tried to post the link via the “share” utility on Facebook to post it on my wall. It became clear then that Facebook deemed BMEzine.com an unfit URL to publish or even mentioned on their site..

Shortly after I posted on IAM, with a screenshot of the error that I was getting. Several other users mentioned they received both these messages when trying to add the URL to their profile, interests or sending the link to a friend on Facebook. Previously entered URLs remain unaffected.

Some of the information you entered is not allowed on Facebook. Please try again.”

Warning: This Message Contains Blocked Content. Some content in this message has been reported as abusive by Facebook users.”

I’ve already sent a few emails as well as made some calls to a few friends to see what can be done about it. One thing I know that works is getting users to speak out!

Select the following text and copy it, click the image below it to take you to their contact form, choose “other” and paste the text into the description box, click submit!

To whom it may concern..

It has come to my attention that Facebook has tagged www.BMEzine.com as a site that contains “abusive content” and all mention of the URL has been prohibited on Facebook.

This allegation is utterly untrue and I feel that on further investigation this decision should be overturned. BMEzine.com has been online for over a decade and is the largest online community site that documents body modification and ritual aspects of the body modifications culture.

Please look into this further and allow BME to continue their relationship with Facebook.

Thank you for your time.

Thank you for taking the time to write to Facebook. If they don’t think any of their users care about BME, they won’t remove the block.

Gaming Tattoos

Mario/SXE tattoo by Bez, Triplesix Studios, Sunderland, England.

I received an email earlier today from Jen (IAM: square).

She’s putting together a feature on gaming tattoos and is looking for contributors. Drop her a line if you’re interested!

ATTENTION GAMERS!!

We at AOL/GameDaily.com have previously done gaming tattoo related features and people loved them so much we’d love to be able to do it again. If you happen to have a gaming related tattoo and want to really show it off in one of our features, send it over to me at [email protected]. Please feel free to send it over at any time with a little blurb about why you got what you did, and also artist information so we can give credit to both of you. Thank you to everyone for submissions!

INKED Magazine Casting Call

I’m not sure how many of you have picked up INKED magazine but it’s a newer Tattoo Magazine that is trying to step up the quality of print tattoo publications. I recently did a photo shoot with Ellen Stagg to go along with an article by Marisa from Needled. I just got an email asking me to let all of you know that they’re hosting an open casting call for an upcoming issue in NYC.

INKED Magazine Casting Call

If you’re interested in getting into INKED, this is your chance! They’re going to pick several women for an upcoming issue which will include a photo shoot with hair, make up and the works!

This is how the Finnish do!

I’ve finally been able to upload some sweet photos from the BMXnet convention this past weekend. In addition to incredibly educational classes and a great mix of talented body modification artists, BMXnet also provided four performance artists. My favorite of the bunch included Modblog favorites, Lassi and Jussi of Saviours performing a custom act which included an attempt at a single point guiche suspension. This is how they cleaned up before hand!
