A few days ago I posted a set of interesting industrials (which I’ve done before, and of course there’s the big industrial piercing galleries on BME as well with approaching 8,000 photos now), but I thought this placement by Trevor at Urban Art in Mesa, Arizona was interesting — a tragus to vertical lobe project.

It surprises me that a lot of the time when I post genital splitting photos, there’s a chorus of people ask “why?” The simple answer is that because genitals are saturated with nerves, it feels good to have more of them exposed — as painful as one assumes the initial procedure is (although really, it isn’t). Shon cut this revolver design, with Eric contributing some of the shading technique, under the watchful eye of Dave Gillstrap. Here it is both fresh and well healed.

I love this photo of Vern piercing Trevorz nose on so many levels… It’s like a mini-version of the Last Supper or something with all the little details and character interactions.
With sincere apologies to the wearer, I really hate saying anything negative about someone’s body modification, but you know, when it comes to tattoo quality, I would never tackle a portrait until I was very confident as a tattoo artist, because the implications of getting it even a little off are so unpleasant. It’s really important to understand I think that doing a portrait is a very different set of skills, and someone can be a quite solid artist on other levels but have difficulty with them… It’s very, very important when you’re looking at someone’s portfolio that you see pieces in the style of what you want.
