James sends in this photo of his formerly SXE tattoo that was originally done at Elgin Tattoo Studio and then modified at Rock n Roll Tattoo in Edinburgh. He wasn’t very specific on which Elgin it was done at but it’s of little consequence.
I felt a little bit like our friend Bune after yesterdays shenanigans. Nothing like waking up with an awesome case of food poisoning. I tried sleeping it off but it’s hard not to take a sip of water every now and then which left me puking for significantly longer than the amount of water I drank! Now that I’m right side in again, I figure I’d get to posting!
More after the jump of course!
Hey all,
Just updating you to let you know Modblog will resume tomorrow. I was stuck out of town and couldn’t add posts. I couldn’t get connected to the internet long enough to upload photos but have just gotten back home. I’m in the process of downloading a huge backlog of images and I should have stuff ready to go.
I’m in the BMEshop today packing orders and printing t-shirts and tomorrow I’ll start posting to Modblog. Take care!
Rachel
Way back in 2008 I made the conscious decision not to post as much “extreme” content on Modblog. This was mainly due to the feedback that I was getting from contributors to BME that they were only getting as much extreme work done just to get showcased on Modblog. While I’m happy that people love BME and Modblog so much that they want to be featured on it, it was troublesome after an individual asked that his photos be taken down because he was now homeless due to his extreme facial mods. It was a wakeup call. Some comments have been left that claimed that Modblog is boring because there aren’t “new and exciting” things being posted. Given that BME has been documenting the community since 1994, the most “new and exciting” mods have already been done. While there are still rare things being done, there aren’t the leaps and bounds in progress and advancements in the modification world that there used to be in the beginning of this decade. I remember when the first eyelid piercing was posted. There was outrage! The same went on with implants, scarification advancements, and even microdermals which have suddenly become the “new navel”. I walk down the streets of Los Angeles and I have seen 40 year old mothers with microdermals in their faces. We can’t always do something new so I’m bringing you something “old” yet still fairly uncommon.
This set of photos comes out of Brazil and it’s by Urea. Let’s hope the redness subsides and this piercing doesn’t irritate the eye any further.
I’m leaving to catch a plane back to Vegas so you guys be good. When I get there I’ll try to keep up with the posts as long as I have internet. More photos after the jump of course!
April sends us this little cartoon tattoo by John Brehm while he was guest spotting at 717 Tattoo in Harrisburg, PA. I’m not sure what the story is behind the tattoo other than it’s “to go with Tot.”. I can only assume that’s the little fellow below the Moon Dawg tattoo. That Tot’s linework looks so solid it’s hard to believe it’s not a stick on.
What do you guys think about comical/cartoon tattoos?
I mentioned last week that I was working on a video interview series. We’ve filmed 6 video interviews so far and those are sitting on the video editing box as we speak. This is a quick snapshot that I took from my camera on my laptop. Our first interview is with Trevor McStay. He flew all the way from Australia to tattoo me and get interviewed. We then followed him up to the San Jose Tattoo Convention where we were lucky enough to get to do interviews with Bugs, Henning Jørgensen, Mike Rubendall, Jeff Croci and other amazing tattooers. I look forward to posting these video interviews and if you’ve got other amazing artists you’d like to see interviewed, please post their names in the comments section.
The issues that cropped up yesterday have been resolved. It’s been recommended again and again that I don’t give people like this the attention they deserve but while CT and I spent the day working on resolving the issues. Thanks to Shannon for helping confirm our diagnosis of the issue as well.
This was a simple error in one of the codes that manages server side cookies. There was a hard coded date which happened to be yesterday. This has since been updated and resolved. We’ve got continuous back ups running of the data from IAM (which if this threat was legitimate, they’d know that BME isn’t attached to IAM so you can’t destroy BME). The import process to the new software will begin in the next few days and from then on, we’ll no longer be relying on the current software set.
We had awesome messages like this posted where people claim they’ve set up “doomsday” devices on IAM in order to blackmail me. Congratulations! You’re an asshole.
There is an abundance of “low hanging fruit” on this one. I don’t know if I should make a joke about cocking the shotgun or what. Chouk sends us his Shotgun tattoo by Dan Sinnes. I’m not sure how old the tattoo is but it looks like it’s holding up well. It’s hard enough to find an artist willing and talented enough to tattoo the skin of a penis but getting it to stay in there is no easy task. Chouk also happens to have a transcrotal if you didn’t happen to notice.
Goodnight Modblog , I’m sorry you’ve been so neglected lately but I’m seeing someone else.
Megan from Hardnox in Franklin, NJ sends us this 10 year wedding anniversary tattoo. It’s nice to see that love is still alive and well.
