Eye-Nigma!

You may think that Kevin looks quite nonchalant and unthrilled at the fact that his soul is most likely about to be eaten. Apparently The Engima has not yet noticed his hair though, which gives him solid protection against soul-devouring, for obvious reasons. But seriously, I just love the black eyes that Enigma has had tattooed — they are unbelievably solid and really suit him. Anyway, I’m going out to the museum for the afternoon but I will return later to make some more posts.

PS. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEVIN!

Four years later

It’s been four years since Joeltron took a huge risk and had the white of his eye tattooed. Here’s what he has to say about this milestone.

My eyeball tattoo. Now over 4 years old, done by Lunacobra.net (Howie). It was the first one done in Australia, these days there are quite a more floating around – but I thought I would share this macro photo. I have had absoultly NO problems with vision, discomfort or anything after I had it done. Around a week of mind discharge and being a bit squinty, then it looked exactly the same as it does today.

We all know that eyeball tattoos are incredibly dangerous, and can lead to blindness, however, it’s good to see that Joel hasn’t lost his vision, and the colour is just as bright as the first day he had it done.

A pointed profile

With his vast assortment of modifications, the Mechanical Demon has transformed from a human into something much more.  While I don’t have the list of artists who have worked on him, I do know that Arseniy Andersson is responsible for the ear pointing/reshaping.

Seeing Purple

I know that tattooing the sclera doesn’t change the color of your vision, but when you see images like this it’s natural to think that she may be seeing the world through a purple haze.  Just so we’re clear, eyeball tattooing is extremely dangerous and can easily lead to blindness with the smallest error.

As you’ve probably guessed by the watermark, this eyeball tattoo was done by Howie down at First Blood in Sydney, Australia.

Forever Black-eyed

Eyeball tattooing.  We’ve talked about it before when it first started to come about a few years back.  Shannon did a great piece on it, as he documented the procedure that Howie did on him.  It’s been well over 4 years since that article and while it is still extremely rare, we do occasionally get submissions.  I just want to note that while it has been successful for some people, this is one of the riskiest procedures and can easily lead to blindness.  Do not under any circumstance even attempt this without proper research and preparation, and even then you can still lose vision, and possibly the eye itself.

That all said, here’s a client of xRonix showing off his blackened sclera.

xRonix is currently working at Extreme Needle in London.

Again, don’t even think of attempting this without extensive research.  If anything is off by the smallest of measurements it is possible to go blind.

Does this count for Movember?

We’re 2 weeks away from Movember (or No Shave November if you prefer) so now’s the perfect time to start getting ready to send in those pictures of some fantastic facial hair.  The question now is, does Joeltron‘s stretched lobes to septum ‘stache count?

Oh, and of course we can’t forget his implants, piercings, lip disc and his tattooed eyeball.

Derezzed

First, I hope that everyone on the east coast is safe and secure after that shake-up that just hit Richmond.  I know a lot of IAM members live in the area close to the epicenter, including Rachel at BMEHQ.

Now then, as his name implies, Joeltron is a big fan of Tron.  How big you ask?  Well take a look at this Tron Recognizer tattoo on the side of his skull.

Naith from Absolution in New Zealand did this while at a guest spot in Sydney at First Blood.

The ever changing, ever evolving, xronix.

Any longtime modblog reader will probably remember xronix in one of his multiple previous features. He has been featured numerous times on here and for good reason, he has an amazing collection of mods and changes looks enough that each feature appears totally different from the last. I really dig this picture, it’s almost like he has evolved past human and if I were ever to make a sequel to “The Fifth Element“, I would damn sure cast him in a major role.

It is also well worth noting that xronix, not only has his eyeballs tattooed, but he did them himself!

Josh Rahn – Rest In Peace

It wasn’t until a few people posted asking why I wasn’t writing about Josh in the BME tour trip update. As we’ve been primarily offline, I hadn’t heard or read about what happened. Once a few more posts came in and Nikk sent me links to the two news articles about the alleged murder, I finally understood what had happened. While we try to stay on top of news from around the world, you’ll find when you’re offline and out of the states, it’s not easy to stay connected.

I’ll link you to Shannon’s blog to read more of his thoughts on Josh as I had never met him. He has appeared on Modblog before when Shannon first had his eyes tattooed along with Josh and Pauly, it is sad that the next time we mention him, it’s under these circumstances.

My condolences to those of you that knew Josh and the loved ones that he has left behind. Tanky has asked that you contact her via email for more information if you would like to attend Josh’s memorial service on April 22nd, 2010 in Hamburg, Pennsylvania.

Due to the ongoing investigation, the circumstances mentioned in the article and the fact that  Josh left behind loved ones. Please think of them before posting comments in the comment section.
