Who doesn’t do this?

One of the biggest “trends” in body modification “fashion” has been the decorative threaded end. I’ve seen Body Vision‘s assortment and it’s pretty killer, especially with everyone from gangster dudes to soccer mom’s sporting the tear drop microdermal these days. It’s a way to customize the jewelry for yourself and I think it’s pretty cool. I don’t know if this 14k yellow gold anchor is one of theirs but they make all kinds of threaded ends to suit whatever your needs are. This is Allen and he apparently did the microdermal himself at Superfly Tattoo in San Diego, California.

Vimby Video – Norm AWR MSK

One of the names that popped up in the interview requests was Norm so it was great timing that his Vimby video just surfaced. I figured I’d post it, like I do with all of Vimby’s Tattooer Videos over here on Modblog to tied you over until BME can do it’s own interview with him. Norm’s script work has to be some of my favorite lettering out there. He’s developed a very beautiful style which gives a whole new meaning to black and grey lettering. He tattooed the palm of my hand a month ago which I’ve included after the jump.

You can check out more on his myspace or at Spotlight Tattoo in person here in Hollywood, California.

VIMBY – Norm MSK-AWR

It’s not the best quality photo since I took it with my iPhone but like I said, his script is really beautiful. There is something elegant yet still jailhouse about it. The “Norm” on his palm and the “LA” on my wrist are both by Jack Rudy of Good Time Charlie’s TattooLand

Tattoo Removal: Knuckle Edition

Hoo boy, and here is some tattoo removal for you, gentle readers, just in time for your company-mandated lunching hour. A little grisly, right? This photo, two days after the appointment, comes to us from a client of the Tattoo Laser Removal Clinic in sunny San Diego, California, but removal aside, we can neither confirm nor deny whether the person featured above still does, in fact, love life. We, of course, hope they do. But really, those blisters form mighty quick—after the jump, the first shot is another close-up from day two, and the final shot is from day one, before these suckers puffed right up.

***

Before we jump across…the jump, though, we figure this is as good a time as any to mention that friend of BME Allen Falkner, who many of you know is also in the tattoo removal business with his company, Fade Fast, has just published an article that we think is worth taking a look at. In it, Allen summarizes and explains the results of a study he recently conducted to “determine how different laser wavelengths interact with particular ink colors, and more specifically, with different brands of tattoo inks.” Give it a read, and if you’re planning on being in Las Vegas this weekend, Allen will be giving a lecture about his findings as well.

**NOTE: Just to clarify, Allen Falkner did not do the removal procedure pictured here.**

Back On Course

Good afternoon, folks! Let’s kick off our day with this fun addition to our esteemed collection of hand and knuckle tattoos by Jeff Miller at Body Art Tattoos in Stratford, New Jersey. What can we say? We enjoy vaguely-antagonistic-but-good-humored-nonetheless tattoos. We hope this gentleman gets some good use out of his newly adorned knuckles.

And hey, it’s Friday, ModBloggers. Right in the face.

It’s Got Its Own

Well, here’s a nice young fella, hmm? Big stretched lobes and nostrils, a little scruffy, hair of which your editor is slightly jealous, but beyond that, we know almost nothing about him! No name, no word of his location…is he just being mysterious, or does this handsome stranger have something to hide?

Tattoo Hollywood, BME’s first tattoo convention, is coming to Los Angeles from August 21-23, featuring contests, prizes and some of the best artists from around the world! Click here for more information.

Off the Rails

Oh, hello there, ModBloggers! Hope the solstice treated you well. Our week begins with one of the great minds of our time, Myke, having one of his patented “Eureka!” moments, but will we ever know what’s going on inside that head? An idea for a renewable energy source? A way to save newspapers…through song? Hamburger earmuffs that effectively deal with the complexities of the Pickle Matrix? I’m sure we’ll find out when the time is right.

Welcome back, folks, but don’t get any big ideas.

(Tattoo done at Blue Lotus Tattoo and The Piercing Lounge on a rainy Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin.)

Crowbar Separation

One of the great joys of getting photos from xRonix is that we really never know what to expect. Seriously, check the archives: This is a human chameleon, folks. Will he sport a foppish top-hat and velvet robe? Stand stoically in a crowded marketplace, framed by a mane of dreadlocks? Or, as we can see above, umm…I’m not even exactly sure what this look is. Anime schoolgirl, perhaps? Whatever it is, the fact remains: we’re all very lucky to have him in our lives.

It’s Friday, ModBloggers, and you just made yourself available.

The Game’s Worthwhile

Well, that was kind of a long day, was it not, folks? But you know something? You all stuck with it, and that, well…that’s a kind of temerity they don’t teach at school. Not usually, at least. Maybe at Brown, or something. But anyway! It’s the kind of performance that deserves, at the very least, a hearty high-five, and for my money, there’s no better candidate to dole out these smacks of good-will than Jamin up there, sporting, among other bits and pieces, that handsome palm tattoo by Anji at ?High Priestess in Eugene, Oregon, which was fresh when this picture was taken. Now, though? High-five away, fair ModBloggers, and all through the night. Until tomorrow.
