MMM Bop? Really?

In the 559 pages of Music Tattoos, I bet you would have almost zero chance of finding another Hanson inspired tattoo (feel free to correct me if I am wrong). Yet, there is one IAM user, who’s username says it all ilovehanson. While in Kansas City, she got this ultimate tribute to the young boys with instruments done by  Andrew Milko at Mercy Seat Tattoo.

PS: some of you may remember her from this post back in ’09.

About a boy

Well hello there! Many many thanks to Arseniy Andersson for this submission.   We’ve got some large stretched lobes, some nipple piercings, music tattoos, microdermals and implants, oh my!  Most importantly, we’ve got a beautiful boy sporting all of these things!

Bitch slapped by the Ace Of Spades

Around this time last year I entered my Lemmy is God tattoo into the Philly  radio station 1045′s band tattoo contest. For some reason, it did not win.

Now this year my buddy Matt Clark, who you IAM folks more likely  know as Robin’s bitch, has entered his Motorhead War Pig hand tattoo in that same contest. If you would like to vote for this bad ass tribute to Motorhead, done by my friend Shlak please go here and do so now.

motorhead

PS: Robin is also taking part in this contest with her Green Day tattoo. Obviously, when faced with the decision which to feature Motorhead or Green Day, I made the right decision. That being said Robin is a kick ass chic, so I still advise you go here and vote for her tattoo as well!

Name this album art and win….

Go ahead, impress me. First one to leave a comment saying the correct artist and album that this design is from wins…..nothing. You will get to be a modblog star for a day though, and that my friends is priceless.

One of the rad things about being a modblog author is discovering new artist. I am shocked to find an artist of this caliber who resides in my home state who I have never even heard of. This piece was done by Gabriel Cece at Rocksteady Tattoo in Hampton, VA. This piece is cool and represents an album from one of my favorite bands, but the work on his site is even more impressive. Take a minute to check out his site if you like color blends and soft or non-existant outlines.

We’re Out For Blood

New Rule: I do not like Motley Crue. I do not think I have ever intentionally listened to one of their songs all the way through. I would like to see Tommy Lee slathered with delicious chestnut honey and chained to a tree in Death-Bear National Park. With that said? The Dirt is one of the most entertaining musical memoirs ever written, and if you commit to an entire goddamn (and surprisingly well-done) backpiece dedicated to these train-wrecks, well, you get featured on ModBlog, friend.

Chop It Down

And finally, folks, let’s end our day with this handsome portrait of, hands down, one of the baddest m.-fuckers in rock and roll history. Have we seen rock star portraits before? Of course we have. But when we get such an exceptional piece honoring a man who treated his guitar like an extension of his genitals more than anyone else we can think of, well, that gets posted, friends.

Tomorrow, we’ve got an interesting interview with a community member who’s feeling conflicted over a procedure he’s recently undergone. Until then, machine gun. Night night.

The Greatest Thieves

What’s that, ModBloggers? You want to see a picture of a stunning redheaded cellist named Samantha with one hell of a pretty floral three-quarter sleeve? As always, dears, we’re happy to oblige you. Oh? You’re wondering if we have a black and white photo of this lovely woman’s back tattoos? We do, indeed!

The Funk of Forty Thousand Years

When Andy sent in this zombie Michael Jackson tribute (?) portrait, it was accompanied with the ever-present, “Too soon?” Now, under normal circumstances, sure, getting a tattoo of a recently deceased celebrity as a hideous member of the walking dead may be in poor taste, but hey, Michael Jackson was arguably most famous for a video in which he appeared…as a zombie! If anything, this is how he would want to be memorialized! (Maybe not.) At any rate, our initial clinical reaction was, No, this isn’t too soon. Get yer MJ zombie on with impunity and a clear conscience, folks!

Oh, right, and then we noticed his right hand. You are going to Hell.

Evil Urges

You know, when you’re a frequent reader of BME or any other body modification resource or otherwise immersed in body modification, it can sometimes be easy to become jaded and unnecessarily critical of work that doesn’t really deserve it. You look at this piece and maybe you think it’s a bit corny or trite, but the fact remains, as far as tattoo work goes? The script is great, the drop-shadow is executed damn near perfectly, and the microphone is about as well rendered as you could ask for. And, hey, the sentiment isn’t half-bad, either. A little simplicity goes a long way sometimes. And on that note, ModBloggers, we’ll see you tomorrow, provided you’re not on one big holiday.

What Everyone Knows

That’s Jon up there, sporting a handsome Boysetsfire-inspired chest-piece by Derek Hutchinson at Sacred Skin South in Des Moines, Iowa. (The quoted lyrics: “This crying, this screaming, my voice is being born.”) The whole piece is nicely done, but the fetal character in the center is particularly well rendered. Also this just made me remember that, back in the day, I always used to get Boysetsfire confused with Boy Hits Car. Because I’m an idiot.
