Well, with all the hoopla surrounding a small group of Christians who think the Big J is coming back tomorrow to take away the good ones and leave the rest of us scoundrels here to face the apocalypse, I felt it only fitting to go with a religious theme today.

Even though I am by no means a Christian, I have a long standing affinity for angels, I think watching The Prophecy a few dozen times too often may have led to this. This particular angel backpiece was done by Matt Kramer of Mind’s Eye Tattoo in Emmaus, Pa.

Unfortunately no information was given about the artist, or where it was done, although there are several shots of the tattoo being done.

I love the contrast between her colourful sleeve and his black and grey tattoos. I don’t have any information about the artists who did the ink otherwise I’d share.

The swarm grows…

A while back I posted this locust tattoo, that was done in tribute to a BME regular, Adam Aries. I, of course, referred to the locust as a dragonfly, because well I kind of suck like that. In fact, I am pretty sure, Adam had corrected me on that on more than one occasion, but in my defense, rarely was I sober enough to comprehend such things while with Adam.

Anyhow, Ryan Oullette shot me this email:

The one (locust tribute tattoo linked earlier) you posted was from Pino Bros. Ink in Cambridge where he worked, but hasn’t been forgotten in Nashua, NH. Adam did his apprenticeship with me and we all miss him very much. We’ve been doing a bunch of locusts on his friends and family from around the Nashua area. I put up an album on facebook, you’re welcome to use any of them for modblog if you’d like. Adam’s original was done by Nick Kelley, all the recent locusts were split between Nick and Kevin McKeating (who used to be Adam’s roommate). I got mine on my kneecap.

The young lady on the right is Peanog, and the gent on the left is the lucky guy she calls “Him”.

A Delicate Balance

There’s something so serene about rock balancing. The patience and the skill to take stones that at first glance you’d never think could be arranged as a structure, and to make them not only stand upright, but also able to balance other stones. Now take that activity, and add it to the BC coastal mountains, and you have what could possibly be one of the best ways to become one with nature.

Rollingsculptor is the fellow you see below walking away from his latest balancing act.

Taking it back

I love it when people add stories to their photo submissions. While not every photo needs a story attached, but when there is one, it can completely change your perception of the contents of the photo.

ldready recently sent in this photo of their newest tattoo. What you’re looking at is the back of the neck with a depiction of a thyroid gland. You see, ldready lost their thyroid to cancer over a year and a half ago, so this tattoo is an opportunity to get it back.

As you can see, knowing the story behind this tattoo enables you to not only understand why this person wanted a thyroid tattooed on their neck, it also lets you know that this isn’t an Alien egg.

This is a custom piece by Lionel Fahy, and it just blows me away. You really need to check out the miscellaneous tattoo gallery to see the rest of this piece. Not only is the work unbelievably unique, but it also incorporates his anatomy directly into it.
